Got any bitters? Old bartender trick...pour some bitters on a slice of lemon (lime? might be lime) and suck on it. Or my personal favourite: pour a full glass of water. Stand on one leg with your opposite arm stretched as high as you can get it over your head (it helps to lean against a wall or doorway). Drink the entire glass of water without stopping before you put your arm or foot down.

    Good luck!

    Edit:
Ok, so it's several hours later. But I just noticed that instead of typing "any bitters" I typed "ant bitters". I don't know what ant bitters might be, but I can't recommend drinking them.

3 teaspoons of sugar, a gulp of ice water after each one, also bring your knees up as close to your chest as possible, the lemon also works, per Google!
It was estimated Pope Pius the Twelfth Hiccupped 600,000,000 prior to his death, no way to go!

Several packets or spoons of sugar and then breathing in and out of a paper bag is what the pediatrician recommended for one of my kids that used to get frequent jags of hiccups. It either worked or was enough of a ritual to have a psycosomatic effect. My grandmother used to tell me to hold my nose.

i use my asthma inhaler - works every time (which makes complete sense since it's designed to reduce inflamation and spasms in the bronchus).

they no longer sell over-the-counter asthma inhalers, so, unless you have asthma or know someone who does try this:  take a slow and very deep breath through your nose and then hold it and stand up and put your arms straight up and also hold your stomach in.  stay in that position as long as is comfortable and then slowly release your breath through your mouth - arms still up and stomach held in as best you can - and take a few slow & deep breaths as you lower your arms and stand naturally - make sure to breath in through nose & out through mouth.  repeat procedure if needed.  this procedure stretches out the diaphragm muscle - which is what is causing the hiccups (it's in a spasm).

You posted this 18 hours ago, are you still hiccuping?

Primatine Mist is still sold over the counter, Phottoette goes through one a month with her allergies here in the desert, we buy it at a local pharmacy.

    Good luch and God Bless.

Primatine Mist is sold over the counter...for now...but will be discontinued in December. Most pharmacies are warning to switch medication now, because they're going to run out long before then due to people buying it to stock up.

I'm also curious about the hiccuping. Seems like you'd come back to tell us if something worked (or to ask for more suggestions if it didn't) after posting something like this.

shove a pencil (crossways) as far back in your mouth as possible, and bit down..

this does something to the way the muscles are used, and drink a glass of water while leaning over the sink (it gets a little messy) this has something to do with the way certain muscles are contracted and released....

guaranteed to work every time :)
