I just reconciled my checkbook.

Yee Haw!!!

I couldn't figure out why my balance said I was overdrawn the last time I did it.  (I use Quickbooks)  Thank goodness when I deposited a check to cover the overdraft I still had a balance so nothing bounced.

I just found out why it said I was in the negative...

I entered my last deposit in Quickbooks as a check.  I have money!

Do you reconcile?  Monthly?  Do you keep a running balance?

Can you still subtract in your head?

I keep a running balance. I do not believe in reconcilliation. Once it's over it's over.

Of course, that just refers to my first wife.

What's nice is now that I found it, it's like double the amount.

Happened to be my last paycheck after being "let go".

Guess I was a bit shaken.

I called yesterday and spoke to the guy I used to work with.  A lot of the customers ask for me.  He tells them that I retired.

    Jerk.

He told me one of them then said...  I'll go to her brother's shop... thank you.

Bet you're enjoying life now that you're retired. I wish I could do that, but there's something about making a living that sort of gets in the way.

Re the Banks. I check the details on-line everyday or two, comparing the outstanding checks and deposits to the entries in the accounts for the Bank(s). I do not do running totals in the paper checkbook anymore. With the exception of my medicare supplement I don't have any 'bill-payer' or automatic payments taken out of the account electronically. I know I am spending extra to pay via the USPS, but I feel better about writing checks and seeing them appear in the debit side on-line, a few days later.

I'm with you Mayor. IMHO, it's The Law of Electronic Catastrophe!
The more you put in these damn computers the greater the chance of getting electronically shafted.

In my experience, people can usually read right through 'jerk' which he definitely earned in this case. :(
