A guy is fishing for King salmon. He hooks a beauty of a fish and starts to fight it when along comes a pod of killer whales. Welll..., an orca decides that what this guy has on his line might be a good snack!

Well, I've heard some fish stories in my day, but considering these folks had evidence, I'll buy it..

I had a big striped bass come and swallow a far smaller weakfish (or sea trout as they call them some places) just as I was getting it to the beach. I first thought it was a shark, which scared me as I was about waist deep in the water! Not nearly as dramatic as a killer whale though!

I despise Sea Lions, those bandits of the deep. When we did the day-boat fishing trips out of Ensenada,B C we could count on the Sea Lions tracking our progress and waiting til we tired the fish (Usually Yellow Tail or Bonito) and then leave us just the head and the hook to lift into the boat. On a good day we might land 75% of our hooked fish. If we were doing the deepwater fish (Ling Cod) they seemed to leave the fish alone. Maybe the Cod smelled bad to them???

My grandfather once hooked a big striper and was fighting iut when the line went slack---he reeled in half a striper--what was left when the shark got through---think i.ve got a picture somewhere--see if i can find it.

5 Years ago in the annual King fish tournament in Mexico Beach, FL. The 3rd place team won with a 24 lb Kingfish.

              (The rest of the story)

They would have been 1st place, but as the guy was reeling it in a black tip shark came up and had a snack. Still half a fish and took 3rd place wasn't a bad day's fishing.
