I wanted a Ripper!

 Well I thought I did.

I finally decided it was time to drive back to 

Fab Hot Dogs

for lunch today.  

I had to time everything right because it's 9 miles away from work and with traffic it hardly gives me time to eat once I get my order and still get back to work in an hour.  I usually eat in the car on the way back to work.

All the way there I'm thinking I want my Thurmann's split and grilled with mustard, grilled onions and grilled peppers.  That's a given.  Do I also want a Ripper or should I get another Thumann's?

Such a decision!

I arrive at Fab, park the car and when I get to the door I see it.  "Closed until 5PM for filming"

What?   WHAT???

 I just stood there.  That can't be!  Then I look inside to try to see someone familiar.  Who do I see???  

Guy Fieri!  

They're filming Diners, Drive-ins and Dives right then and there!  

Had I been there sooner, I could have been one of those people interviewed but I was too late and they had locked the door.

Very cool, but I still wanted my Thumann's.

Sounds like a west coast SoCal hotdog tour is due.
I have never been to Fabdogs or Pinks or Okidog.  What other places would we visit?

I read your SFV Hotdog report, excellent report!  I did not know there were so many good hot dog places in CA.  I wish some of them were in Orange county.

if you got there earlier, you would have been locked in, got interviewed, had a chance to knock those sunglasses of his neck, got back to work late, & got spanked by your boss.
the only upside I see to this is missing the opportunity to knock those sunglasses of his neck & getting a ripper.

I guess I misunderstood the definition of "RIPPER" !! When I read the thread title all I could bring to mind was the reaction of BB, Bushie, TTM and Especially Poverty Pete, to Janet's BBQ Beans served at the recent Memorial Day Party !!  Those guys sounded like a Quartet of TUBA Players in a Bathtub, Tooting out "RIPPERS' as fast as their little Tubas would "Ompaah"!!!! Even the AC in the house couldn't clear the air fast enough!

So now we have the REAL reason for the shocked look on Mariton's face.

Although Buffetbuster's expression is more impassive, I believe I can tell what he's thinking.....

The DDD Episode was re-run tonight. Looks like a pretty extensive menu. In all the posts above, no one has said they have actually eaten there. Has anyone had a Fab Dog? If so, report!
They do a lot of bacon wrapped, deep fried combinations. Kinda like a Sonoran dog with a Rutts Hut twist. A lot of Creative combos there.

Hey Foodbme, I believe ayersian included it in one of their RF Digest posts.  They also wrote it up as a review.  RFer Samuel Shor (not sure if that's his handle) also wrote a review.

Their menu may be extensive but I keep going back for the grilled and split dog with grilled onions and mustard.
 
They use an all beef in a casing  (Thumann's) although they'll never admit it.
 
Worth a trip although they've gone over the top with their shakes.
