I will travling to Pagosa Springs Colo. 6-28 - 7-7-03 by way of the I-40 where are there good places to eat Along the way?

    From where?? East or West?? I-40 miss's Colorado by 150 or so miles...give us a little more info and I am sure we can make some recommendations.

      If you're taking US 550 from Albuquerque, then try either the 66 Diner or the Frontier in Albuquerque. Both are reviewed elsewhere on My daughter used to make shakes and sundaes at 66 Diner.

        If you continue east on I-40 from Gallup, NM, something around 15 miles, you will come upon of the finest truck stops in the country. There's a freeway exit and overpass taking you to the north side of the "big road." It is owned, operated and staffed by the Navajo Nation and they even operate their own refinery adjecent to the service center. It is first class from the diesel fuel islands to the showers and dining room. The property is spacous so you'll have plenty of room to get your vehicle in and out of the non-commercial parking - big trucks have their own parking. You won't take on enough fuel to earn a free shower but if you pay the price you'll find more marble and clean towels than most top name motels. The dining room is always well staffed with a very professional and efficient crew. The menu is varied - it's not the usual chicken fried surprise - and portions are easily ample. A big gift shop and busy mini-market round out the facility. It's quality food and service at below market prices and there isn't a casino in sight. How do they do it?
