I-70 Illinois to Indianapolis Sat, 05/17/03 8:52 AM (permalink)
We occasionally travel from Kansas to visit relatives in Ohio and Michigan. We tend to get hungry between the Illinois border with Missouri and Indy. St. Louis stops are a bit too early for us (and we have explored many of them already). Does anyone know of roadfood off of I-70 between Illinois and Indy?

The Stern's did a review of RICHARD'S FARM RESTAURANT in Casey, Illinois. Not far off I-70 at the Illinois Rt 49 Interchange (MP 129), about 30 miles from the Indiana Line. We stopped there one time and found it to be an interesting stop that lived up to the rating that Jane and Michael gave the place. Solid American-MidWestern Lunch and Dinner !

Thanks for the great suggestion. We just returned from our trip and stopped at Richard's Farm Restaurant in Casey. Appropriately for us, the exit sign was for Casey/Kansas .

We had two pork sandwiches - fried pork tenderloin and BBQ pork. The tenderloin had a nice, if bland, coating and was quite large. The BBQ pork was sweet and tender. We especially liked the pecan pie, made at the restaurant (ask first - not all desserts are made on-site). It had a hint of maple syrup with lots of pecans. Even though we ordered one piece to split, our waitress got us two pieces for the price of one. The main entrees were a bit steep in price for roadfood, but the sandwiches were just right.
