If I am really, really hungry for breakfast food, I like to go to IHOP and get the rooty tooty breakfast special. For 4.99, you get a couple of eggs, bacon or sausage, hashbrowns or grits, and a couple of pancakes. Not a shabby deal. My only complaint about the place is that I am usually so full I almost have to be rolled out of there with a handtruck.

We had one for a brief while, so sad. I would always get the Harvest Nut/Grain Pancakes, with two eggs over easy and hash browns. My God, they were the best. Why can't they keep these things open in the Boulder area of Colorado?

We used to go to IHOP alot, I enjoyed the omelets while the better half liked the belgan waffles but the mangagement went downhill and the waitstaff was less than mediocre, leaving no reason to drive past Perkins or 2 WaffleHouses

One opened a couple of years ago less than a mile from my house. I go there a LOT now. Always get breakfast, so I have no idea if the rest of their food is any good or not...why go to a place called the International House of Pancakes and get a burger? For less than eight bucks I can get absolutely stuffed on all manner of breakfast food, and I don't have to cook it. What more could you want? My only problem with them is their "grits", which are actually instant malt-o-meal. Blech.

I love ihop. They ruined the onion rings though, they used the battered onion rings which i hate I used to get An Appetizer sampler and a short stack, but since they changed the rings and mozzarella sticks, I get THe Full stack And a country fried steak with seasoned red potatoes. heaven...

I love IHOP, the service is usually terrible, but the food makes up for it!! They have this southwestern omelet that is really good and I love the fact that they leave the coffee pot on the table for you to get your own refills!!

We have an IHOP in Maryville, TN that I frequently have breakfast at. Personally, I cannot complain about their service or food. I have ask them on occasion to do special things and they have always complied. I truly enjoy their breakfast. I have never had another meal there besides breakfast. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I enjoy eating breakfast foods anytime during the day or night. I always enjoyed IHOP especially the Rooty Tooty breakfast special until someone told me their pancakes were frozen and they just steam them... Any truth to that or is it an urban myth?

If you like them, does it really matter (other than out of curiousity and the potential of re-creating it yourself)? I've had pancakes at charming roadside diners that rivalled Lisa Douglas's hotscakes on Green Acres for leadeness, gluieness and indigestibility. I'd hope IHO Pancakes would avoid that. Do they still have the multiple choices of syrup, including real and imitation maple? Maybe it's time to try it again.

They no longer bring you a hot pitcher of maple syrup (which I highly doubt has been real for some time now)...instead, it's one of the four on the table. Personally, I always choose Butter Pecan. But there's strawberry and blueberry as well.

The IHOP's that I have visited always served me hot fresh crispy pancakes that were obviously not frozen or steamed. I always request hot syrup which they always supply. I really enjoy their breakfast. I have never had anything but breakfast there. I was with a friend in Anchorage a couple of years ago and they even modify their menu to allow you to choose. My friend wanted a breakfast burrito sans eggs and the complied. I cannot complain about their service or food. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

IHOP is a pretty good chain. It's one of 4 all day breakfast joints that I can choose from if I don't get up in time for MCdonalds Breakfast service. The other 3 are Dennys, Carrows, and a local place named Harrys Burgers.

My wife and I have gone to IHOP several times, and I am definetely NOT impressed! Once when we went, all I got was a Coke, and my wife got breakfast. Our bill was almost $15.00! I have never returned, and have no plans to do so, now, or in the future!

Hello All, I went for the first time 2 weeks ago when I picked up my daughter from college in Williamsburg, Va. She ordered orange crepes and I a burger and fries. Cranberry juice for her and a Pepsi for me. I wanted a Coke, but they carried Pepsi products only. The Pepsi was a bit watery. She LOVED the orange crepes, while I found the burger and fries good. The bill was $19 plus a generous tip. Ouch, I thought. Our waitress was excellent, and it took a while for the food to arrive. That was because they made it to order rather than re-heating something pre-made, which I was more than glad to wait for. I had good food and good company. Take Care, Fieldthistle

Another couple wanted to meet us for breakfast at IHOP, we have so many good mom & pop's that we love but this was their choice. I haven't been in 20+ years but my partner sometimes meets up with old friends but just has coffee or toast. The waitress started off with an attitude against us because none of us had coffee, she walked off and left us to sit for quite a bit before coming back to take our order. We asked that the bill seperate for the two couples, not a biggie, the place was not busy, she was not busy and our orders were fairly simple. I don't remember what we all had but it took forever while we watched our waitress just standing and chatting with another worker. Our food was finally and aburptly dumped in front of us and she ran off to not return or be seen until we were long in want of wanting our check and getting out of there. None of our food was quite right but it really became a thing of " let's just get out of here". In the end, she did not split the bill and the amount seemed outrageously high for what we had. We can get the same items at our favorite local owned place for under $10 for the two of us, our IHOP trip was double that.

I suppose we are fortunate in the East Tennessee area as I have never experienced the bad service issues that many have discussed. I enjoy their food and I always get their chicken fried steak with gravy, pancakes, hashbrowns and over hard eggs. I am not saying they are the best but they are consistent in our area. Paul E. The one near our house is pretty old and designed to where you can see the griddle and they're cooking them, at least at this one. IHOP isn't bad, but it is pricier than the same food at a local diner. Problem is a lot of places don't really have local diners.

That was my poblem being forced to go to IHOP, it was double what we pay at our local diner. We are lucky to have 4 local diners that we rotate between, I hope to never go to a IHOP again.

I like IHOP. I prefer Waffle House but IHOP is sometimes a nice change of pace. I really like their fish and chips dinner. Sometimes I'll order it only to find out that particular IHOP doesn't have malt vinegar. Fish and chips is complete without malt vinegar.

IMHO IHOP is half the quality and three times the cost of Waffle House

IHOP is good for a chain! We went there often when I was a kid in Quincy, MA and my mom even worked there for a while..yum! Unfortunately here in Columbus, OH there are no IHOPS (though I know there were some here with the old fashioned deep slanted roofs that closed probably in the mid 1980s) and a couple times when I was still married my wife, myself and the kids would make the 70 mile drive to Findlay just for IHOP. Crazy but true..lazy Sunday morning..why not make a drive? I would love for IHOP to re-enter the Columbus market. Just a few Perkins and a few Waffle Houses..seems like a potential market here.

They opened a new IHOP by Rolling Oaks Mall in San Antonio. There is one in The Forum Shopping center in Live Oak.Due I think to the tremendous business the place is doing, they decided to open another one in NE San Antonio right by the mall.It does a good business too. I had the chicken fried bonless chicken breast that was good. The Denny's in Schertz used to be packed for breakfast. We also have the Village Inn,but haven't tried it for breakfast.
