IHOP's New Pancake Flavors Fri, 11/16/07 3:16 PM (permalink)
Has anyone tried IHOP's new cheesecake, carrot cake, or pumpkin pancakes? I wonder if they are worth trying.

I'm boycotting them, at the moment, for their commercials alone. The Roomstore is also feeling my wrath.

Ok, divefl, I need to ask, why are you boycotting IHOP for their commercials? Is it also a commercial-induced boycott of The Roomstore?

Have you seen them? Starts off with a woman talking about giving into temptation, and her friends gasp, then she tells them she had ihops new pancakes. I don't know. It's bad acting, bad writing, and irritating. I demand more. She says she's giving into temptation with such abandon, you think she's telling her friends she decided to try drier sheets.

Same reason Roomstore. They have a spokesperson I find grating, They are currently on an obnoxious "words ending with O" commercial, and I really don'r need any furniture.

I need better commercials. I need the superbowl.

Did you ever notice all Ihops have an "IHop smell" to them? Not bad... maybe even reassuring. You keep the smell on you for a few hours after you depart. That really has nothing to do with anything. Just thinking. I will continue my IHOP boycott until I get a good commercial.

Although IHOP is not my favorite place, the extended family loves it. We go about twice a month. The last time I tried the carrot cake pancakes. They were not very good. It was too sweet (and I have a HUGE sweet tooth) and was mostly fillings not much of the batter. Kind of hard to explain, but I will not be ordering these again. We will be going there again when the family visits for Thanksgiving weekend. I think I am going to try the cheesecake ones. Pumpkin pancakes are my favorite, but I make them at home, so I might try the cheesecake ones for a change.

Do you feel that you are giving in to temptation by making these rash pancake choices?

I personally enjoy IHOP and I go there frequently taking my family with me. I find that they deliver the product that I want. I really enjoy their breakfast.

Took the grandkids to IHOP about a week ago and I had the stuffed french toast w/blueberry topping, along w/some great hashbrowns. It was delicious. I usually order french toast instead of pancakes, because the pancakes fill me up so fast and I want to enjoy my eggs, bacon and hashbrowns!

I took a friend to IHoP yesterday. She had the pumpkin pancakes, I had the New York cheesecake pancakes. The pumpkin ones matched the photo and were apparently quite tasty. The cheesecake ones did not match the photo-- they were a bit thinner and the chunks of cheesecake were not visible. But so what? The cheesecake chunks melted and spread into the pancake, hidden by the crust. The cheesecake taste and texture were quite palate-pleasing.

I don't know you DavidEMartin, but I don't like when things look in a way, and are really different when you see by yourself. That's why I like David's Cookies: they look just as they are in real life:

Their Cream of Wheat pancakes are wonderful. Pricey, but really good.

I'm not a real fan of IHOP. I dunno, I have been there a few times and the food was cold and service was bad. I really like the Mom and Pop places better than the chains. The food is always awesome and they really give you what you want at a good price.

I am not a big fan of most chains--but if you have bunch kids that all need breakfast---it works---i have a large family and there are times---esp. when we gather at say --a wedding--and the hotel is nearby---Ihop has been doing it a LONG time--food places have to have SOMETHING going for them to last as long as they have. MOST of their plates are more dessert then for breakfast--but you CAN get a decent eggs over easy with plain cakes and bacon AND satisfy all the group too--including 17 kids!!!---yep--BIG family! I may try the pumpkin cakes next time!

I'm sorry, but the one and only restaurant that I absolutely refuse to ever go to is IHOP. I can't help it, I'd give the place a 0 on a scale of 1 thru 10. How come they stick a plate of pancakes in front of you even if you order lunch? Sorry - that's brain-dead to me.
Rotten food, rotten service and rotten commercials. Ugly structures, too. Oh yeah, one more thing....I remember long, long ago when I did go there, I ordered blueberry pancakes. I got served a plate of pancakes with this nasty blueberry syrup crap all over them. That's NOT real blueberry pancakes. That's IHOP garbage.

Some areas have really great pancake places, like Walker Brothers outside of Chicago. Baltimore, however, doesn't really have a great option for pancakes, so I can't remember the last time I went out for pancakes.

My sis prefers staying at those Hampton Inn type places that have a free breakfast bar ... the kids fill up on their cereals, etc...
and they get to the amusement rides much faster (Hershey park, whatever)
