Pink's stinks?!? Rick Seback's "A Hot Dog Program(Show?)" said Pink's is great. Was it all just hype??? What about "Law Dogs"? Are there any good Hot Dogs in LA?

        Stunned and amazed,

        Buddy

P.S. Sorry for contributing to the "off-topic", but I've got to know the truth.

As a native Angeleno, it pains me to admit that there are no "Q" places around here worth the drive. (NOTE: There may be a few in some of those neighborhoods I don't feel safe entering ... I wish I was brave enough to try 'em out.) I particularly resent the few "Q" shops that ARE around because they're so disappointing! In particular, don't go near Mr. Cecil's in West LA ... appalling food. I can't figure out how they stay in business.

That said, I will admit to occasionally enjoying the ribs at Tony Roma's and the pulled pork at Johnny Reb's (plus, Johnny Reb's has truly excellent collard greens and biscuits).

Ignoring the Hot Dog Comments to stick to the topic at hand. There are some BBQ stands in the L A area worth commenting on---
Johnny Rebs, I know of the new one in Victorville and the original down in Lakewood or Long Beach area...

One of the more primitive stands in Bloomington at the intersection of Citrus, Valley Blvd and the 10 Freeway is Dan, The BBQ Man. He has been there for 15 years or so now, pretty good Que.

In the Valley on Sepelveda you will find Texas and Missouri style BBQ's within a couple of miles of each other.

A Big Rib house is near the 118 in Thousand Oaks/Simi Valley. My brother loves the place, I haven't been there.

Whil SoCal isn't a haven for thousands of rib-stands, It does have some BBQ. Look Around, It is there.

              Woody's? Phillip's? Dr. Hoggly Woggly's Tyler Texas BBQ? Lucille's?

Don't pass up a chance at Burrell's in Santa Ana.

I ate at Dr. Hoggly Woggly's a few years ago, and wasn't very impressed. I'd forgotten about Lucille's, though. Yes, I agree the food there is very good, but it's pricey enough to be discouraging, and the surroundings are fancy (rather than grubby).

I'd never heard of Burrell's and will definitely try it out. Thanks!

Johnny Rebs. Yes, good, and they really smoke their BBQ. Ribs are pretty decent. Pulled pork sandwich is really good. They have a very good slaw, cornbread, okra, you name something southern, they pretty much have it. The one in Long Beach is the best. I have a condo there, and everytime I'm in town, it's Johnny Rebs time. They also have a website, just google it.

Burrell's is the best in Santa Ana, but so close to Orange where you can go to Johnny Reb's it is a tough choice. I love Burrell's yard with the birds, palm trees and picnic benches.

If you live in Los Angeles you really have to smoke your own, which we do quite often.

Hogly Wogly's isn't what it was in the 60s.

... and don't forget their biscuits. Even my authentic southern friends swear by Johnny Rebs' biscuits. My favorite meal there is the pulled pork, with collards and coleslaw as the sides and biscuit as the bread. By the way, you can usually get free refills on the side dishes ... but you have to ask the wait person; it's no longer advertised on their menu. Happy eating!

Try Red Hill BBQ in Rancho Cucamunga. Very small place, so take out is your best bet. Texas Style. Real good!
