ISO: sweetpotato fries @ Walter's Hog Dogs in NY

Walter's 937 Palmer Avenue, Mamaroneck, New York 10543 Their hot dogs are the best, but the French fried sweet potatoes are out of this world. I contacted them, but they replied that the fries are prebreaded and purchased from some place in California. Anyone have any ideas on how to find these fries. Thanks. Thomas in Delaware.

Sounds similar to the ones once served at Golden Corral (although those were not actually fries). Here is a recipe for Yam Sticks: Sesame Yam Sticks Yield: 4 Servings Ingredients 2 lg yams 1/2 c sesame seeds 1 tb corn or sesame oil Instructions Boil or bake yams until soft but not mushy. Let cool or refrigerate overnight. Peel and cut yams into pieces about 2" x 1/2" x 1/2". Roll yam sticks in sesame seeds, pressing to make seeds stick. Saute in oil for one minute on each side, drain and cool. Serve cool or broil briefly to crisp sticks and serve hot.
