This thread prompted me to download a bunch of new stuff onto my iPod...I Know A Little by Skynard, Orange Blossom Special and South's Gonna Do It Again by Charlie Daniels, Dixie chicken by Little Feat, a bunch of Prince stuff, Jennie Says (Cowboy Mouth), Fidelity (Regina Spektor), Monkees tunes, a bunch of 80s classics, Marshall Tucker hits, a few Clash songs...God, I love my iPod!

I was there too. Went with 3 friends who had attended the same Catholic girls-only high school. When we finally got to park the car, well after dark, we found we were near the only showers that worked throughtout the whole festival. Since we were good girls and Catholic, we mostly drank beer...and we certainly didn't inhale.

I held on to my tickets since no one collected them after the front gate gate/fence fell down and the ticket-takers gave up and left. Unfortunately, they disappeared from my Mom's house some time in the '90s. I suspect my brother sold them.

You're right, he did! And I bought 'em.

My favorite Drew Carey episode was the one where he had Peter Frampton on as a guest. Not only did Frampton do a good acting job, but he playing some music that showed that he can still rock with the best of them. I was a fan since before the big album-----I still think that Humble Pie with Frampton was one of the best bands of that era. "Stone Cold Fever", I Don't Need No Doctor"----great tunes by a great band.

I still wake up screaming after thirty years. It is only once a month or so but this is part of going to war. I have no bad feelings about it. I don't blame anyone, I think that going out to kill our fellow man carries w/ a certain burden. I remember hearing my Father have the same nightmares so many years ago.

One good thing is I carry a cane to help me walk (actually the old Irish Shalleigh (sp)) which subdues young chaps who wish to kick an old man's posterior. If the cane doesn't work the .45 surely does. I'm no bad butt...just an old man who gets a stiff back at the wrong time. I'll back down all day long unless you mess w/ my wife or my kids

V, I hear you and understand to some appreciable extent. These are personal experiences we deal with individually. Believe we're probably of the same vintage. Just please know many of us care and stand along side you. With you always brother.

                      V960,
Methinks that I read the Irish-walking-stick word recently in print somewhere, and that it was spelled "SHILLELAUGH." That looks reasonably accurate, especially considering that it surely is an Irish Gaelic word.
Your stab at spelling really wasn't half bad... that's not an easy word.
All I need to help me walk is some prodding. My butt's getting too big from sitting here typing out all my silly answers to other people's messages (excepting this one, of course!). (Or as Beavis & Butt-head would say, "He said 'BUTT'!! Heh-heh, heh-heh.")

well I guess as a skin of my teeth baby boomer I qualify, but since I was a mature 5 years old for the first moon landing, I didn't do a lot in the way of celebrating the 60's.

I sure have enjoyed this thread, though. Love the music from psychedelic to old time gospel and blues to bluegrass Live from the Opry. Just HATE trying to explain it to my Mom!!!

Never bothered with drugs, 'cause it's just way too much fun to be the sober one at the party.... Nope, then as now, my vices are legal: good books, good food, and great conversations with interesting people!

P.S. But I do remember the Monkees, and was madly in love with Mickey and Davy on alternating days!

A significant part of me is still back there someplace, though, because as I'm sitting here typing I'm wearing a "WGOE Progressive Radio Richmond 1590 AM" t-shirt. You can order your own online... just Google around a bit. When I lived in Richmond in 1979, they had been progressive (at least part of their broadcast day) since 1966. I still recall the time I was driving to work and almost ran off the road when they played "Love Song For The Dead Che'" by The United States Of America.
They also were the ONLY AM station anywhere to play The Fugs... and they did so legally, either through ingenious splicing or by a simple move-over of an on-air tone-arm.

Thanks for your post on WGOE t-shirts. After seeing your post I still did not think I would find it but found it in Yahoo rather than Google at SpringerConnection(dot)com.

As for me, I was living in Westchester Co., NY, my first job as a RN in '69.

I went to Woodstock....thought I was going to a concert in the Catskills,.....NOT...I whined the whole weekend. No place to plug in my hair dryer. What a wuss, I was (and still am, I guess)!!
