The picture's nice, but tell us about the restaurant - where it's at, etc.

Idaho Sweets BBQ is located in the beach resort town of Wildwood, NJ That's about an hour south of Atlantic City...

It is on New Jersey ave, less than a mile from the beach.
Take Exit 4b off the Garden State Parkway, you will be on Rio Grande ave. Then just turn right on New Jersey ave. The restaurant is on the corner of Andrews ave. Their phone # is 609-729-9200.

They tell me they will be open even through the winter time, but just on weekends. The fact they will be even open at all in the wintertime is a big deal down in the Wildwoods...

Glad if I whet your appetite for those beef ribs. I had "Buffalo Fries" with them, hence the sogginess from the Buffalo sauce.
At least half of my slab was covered up by those fries. Their beef ribs sell for $16.95.
They also offer a lunch buffet, for just $7.99.

Now I will attach 2 more pics.
One is of an advertisement for Idaho Sweets on a bench shelter on the Wildwood boardwalk.

The other pic is of the Wildwood boardwalk...(A 3 mile boardwalk!)
          showing Macks Pizza, etc

Stay tuned for my pics of the buffet...!!!

If I rmember correctly, that restaurant used to be a bar/pizza place, but next time there, I'll have to give it a try. BTW - Mack's pizza (in your picture above)is still going strong after about 50+ years. They had several places on the boardwalk, each with the pizza dough throwing show to bring in the customers.

Ate Mack's pizza every day for a week once. Didn't die. 40 years later it still tastes the same. Seems to me that back then you could only get CHEESE pizzas, and that they offered no toppings. I think they may have put the cheese on BEFORE the sauce. Anybody know for sure?

Wildwood was full of great restaurants back in the '60s. "Valentino's," "Zaberer's," "Thunderbird," "Enrico's," and "The Wharf" to name just a few. They're all long gone.

Worked at a place called "Junior's," on the corner of Wildwood and Atlantic Avenues. It was underneath a hotel called the "Dayton." I've still got the 1967 menu. The food and service were excellent, and you could get a fresh cut 12 oz Strip Steak dinner for $1.98. JR's went under the wrecking ball after the summer of '69, and I continued my cooking career at the "Surfside" in Wildwood Crest. The sandwiches were good, dinner food left something to be desired, but the sundaes and shakes kept people coming in until late at night. Breakfasts were great, and there was a line every morning. "Surfside" was torn down after the 2003 season, and is now being resurected as the centerpiece of the "Doo Wop" revival thing that's sweeping the island.

Wildwood's still a great place to get a real Philly Cheese-Steak and a cheap pint of beer. I highly recommend "Owen's Pub" for the sandwiches and more. This summer, I'll be sure to try that BBQ place.
