If You Could Own a Chain....?

I would love to have the money to open a Cracker Barrel near an interstate exit,if I had the money. They're always so crowded, and for the most part customers, both young and old alike, generally enjoy the old country store atmosphere...and the food is not bad for the money,a good value given to the customer. It might be a good business to run. If you could own one food franchise, what would it be, and why?

Don't you think that you may have taken your Socratic method too far?

Hahaha This is Roadfood, my dear man. A better question to ask us would be "What kind of wonderful Roadfood restaurant would you love to own"?

I do not give "two hoots" what it is under. I cannot understand someone who has been posting as much as you have as even having any interest in owning a chain restaurant. In my opinion, it shows you as not really being into Roadfood. You are just interesting in the number of posts that you make.

I have a zillion ideas for new chains in the U.S. mainland. I am not looking for a job, but would consider a position in an advisery capacity. A few of my ideas are floating around here at Roadfood but they would be hard to find. A bit off topic, sorrry Lee! Joe

I would not want to own any food franchise. I'll take Carrier, Bryant or Lennox any time. How about a combination Waffle House and HVAC company? If you need to flame for this, I prefer oxy-acetylene.

Thanks PapaJoe,for explaining what you think was an inappropriate post in a nice way and Pdxxyz for saying what I thought WAS OBVIOUS. I'm sorry, I thought it would be fun. I stand corrected. Apparantly 1389 posts doesn't breed a class act. I post because I have been an avid cook, food reviewer, and lover of most kinds of food since I was old enough to remember, almost 62 years ago....not for the sake of posting.I think it is fun talking to like minded people and have talked up this site a lot with my friends and family. Most people on this site have been indeed fun, informative, and interesting. Some,I've noticed, however seem to use the WWW to insult and push their own agenda. To anyone I've offended with this post...perhaps I misunderstood its label, sorry this didn't keep roadfood "pure"!!!! I'll try to be more careful in the future with my many, many posts!!!!

We repeat...please see Pdxyyz's post above. That expresses my thoughts also...I posted this because I thought it was a fun idea and a way to express feelings about fast food franchises, which I believe is what this forum is about... for people who want to talk about fast food franchises????

You may be acting like a teacher, but not a very good one. If your logic says it's inappropriate to post about a chain restaurant, why is there a section titled "Fast Food Franchises & Non-Roadfood Chains"? If one of your students was unable to understand such a basic concept, what would your reaction be?

If one of your students was unable to understand such a basic concept, what would your reaction be? It would seem to me that while there is a section for fast food, franchises and chains, Roadfood is about Roadfood. Thus, for people whose interest is in Roadfood, as defined by the Sterns, it might be a bit unseemly, or at the very least unusual, for a member to be aspiring to own a chain restaurant rather than a one-of-a-kind place with actual Roadfood connotations. I don't think there is anything wrong with fast food, chains, etc., in their place. I happen to enjoy several, but while I might love the thought of having a terrific restaurant (and with any good luck at all that will never happen) I cannot imagine fantasizing about owning a chain-type establishment.

Lee, I'd own a Claim Jumper or a Cheesecake Factory, mainly because they tend to be money machines.

There is such a thing as a roadfood chain! A one of a kind place in several places. Joe Oh, this is the "Non Roadfood Chain" section.

Thats what I was talkin about Lee! Sounds like a good idea! I'll take 10%. As a side item you might consider "Beer Dogs", hot dogs cooked in beer! And, you could even serve "Chili Beer Dogs" or..."Beer Chili Dogs"? Hmmm, would you need to ID folks? Joe Edit; I bet CSD would know about the ID thing for "beer Dogs".
