I'm 41 and my daddy still calls me baby......

 Well, actually he still calls me "Missy" but that's not nearly as catchy! Anyway, I just endured oops, I mean ENJOYED a 5 day surprise visit from my Dad and wouldn't you know, while waiting for a table at Red Lobster ( I know !! ) he did the old hold my face,and peer at my teeth thing! Rawther embarrassing!! he sez he paid for the braces so my teeth are his to investigate at any time...so I got to wondering if other peoples folks do anything similar? or do you do something to your kids that make them squirm ?!   Dawn

    I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to make people sad, I'm super lucky to still have my Dad, and I make sure he knows it...    What?! noone has a great memory of a parent doing something MORTIFING ( at least at the time )  ?? My friend Amy's mom used to play the kazoo on the bus when she was a field-trip mom   

When I start to tell one of my world famous Irish jokes to new company my kids all moan----and I have heard "Oh no, there he goes again" more than once !!!!!!!!!!!

I have to be honest here, but that does sound rather creepy. I'm trying to relate but I'm 61 and my daughter is 25. I did pay for her braces, but she doesn't need to be reminded of it.

Then again, I'm sure I do things in her presence that she finds creepy, so please don't think I'm above all that.  

Anyway, at least to my credit I would never take her to Red Lobster, and she knows that.

 Hee-hee, it's Delta Dawn by Helen Reddy, people have sung it to/at me all my life and I NEVER thought I'd actually BE 41 !!! how the heck did this happen?...... 

My dad has been gone 5 years, but my mother is 87 years old & still going strong.
 
One of the things my sister & I cherish about visits with my mom is when she talks about the "girls".  It is the "girls" this & the "girls that.  I am 62 & my sister is 61 so we are no way even within shouting distance of our girlhoods, but to my mom we will always be the "girls".
 
Also, my husband & I still call our 35 year old daughter "Baby Girl".  She used to hate her nickname ,but now she loves being called "Baby Girl" especially by her Dad.
