I'm curious Cost of Menus?

I'm wondering how much an average restaurant pays for their menus. I'm talking about an avereage nice place, not a diner, or a high end expensive place. The reason is my dad would make it a point to swipe the menu from everywhere he ate. He traveled quite a bit, and I have inheireted literally hundreds of menus from the 1950's thru early 1970's from all over the country. I can adjust for inflation, but it must have been expensive to replace these "lost" menus? Hmmm I wonder if they have any value on ebay?

I doubt they have value on EBay, it would be a real nice thing for you to do if you contacted the places where they're from..just 1-2 a day or so, and see if they would like it back. I know I'd love an original menu from ours. The cost of ours, estimating cover, printing maybe $3.00, aggravation factor of having to redo them because of people who take them..priceless

Menus are sold on eBay all the time. I have bought some. As of today, there are 422 menu listings on eBay.

As a collection they might fetch a good bit on eBay. As far as printing costs, I think that would vary as much as the restaurants themselves. A typical four page menu printed in a couple of spot colors might have cost the restaurant a buck each. But there are a lot of variables. Thanks to advances in process printing, and the internet, full color menus are actually much cheaper today than they would have been just a few years ago.

I have always noticed that the fancier the menu -- the worst the food.
