I don't know what's worse you tossing the bread or going to mcdonald's while on a diet?

Has anyone seen double cheeseburgers for over a buck? I've heard some stores are raising the price to $1.09 to $1.19.

They are over 1 buck in many states, most of the time at truckstops. 1.50 sometimes... crooks

Is Mcdonald's double cheeseburger really a double? According to their nutrition guide, their basic hamburger is a 100g serving size and their basic cheeseburger is 114g, but their so called double cheeseburger is listed at 165g. Assuming they use one slice of cheese (14g), that would suggest perhaps 1.5 burgers, not 2x. Do they use two very small / non standard burgers? Or do they load up the basic burger / cheeseburger with a lot of ketchup, etc to get to the 100g weight? Are their buns really that heavy?

mjambro - Yes, it is a double. Say the bun is 50g and the patty 40g, with a 14g slice of cheese and condiments (~6g) - total 100g. A double would have one bun (50g), two patties (80g), and two slices of cheese (28g) for a total of 158g; when you add the standard (~6g) condiments (which are the same, whether it's a single or double burger) it would come to around 165g. Those patties are pretty thin (4 oz BEFORE cooking, which really means about 3 oz) and I don't find it hard to believe the bun and the patty have similar weights.

For the record, McD's doesn't list the nutrition or weight of the individual "pieces", just of the sandwich as a whole - at least as far as I could find.

I believe that the standard hamburger patty at McD's is about 1.6 oz. before cooking, based upon the fact that the 1/4-Pounder patty calorie content is 220, vs. 90 calories for a Hamburger patty.

BTW, the Big and Tasty uses the 4 oz. patty, and the Big Mac uses two of the little 1.6 oz. patties. They appear to stock only two patty sizes: the 1.6 and the 4.0 oz. sizes.

Ok, I was off with the ounces (I was guessing) but they are still the small patties regardless. I know my math on the grams is right, though.

Yeah, used singly, they are really small. At today's McDonald's, it is the child-sized portion.

This was dinner a few nights ago. MMMMM. I couldn't even resist before the pic to take a bite.
