Introductions

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I am from Birmingham Alabama and in the process of starting a mobile food cart serving hotdogs, hamburgers and brats. (As I cross my fingers that everything continues to fall into place as planned). I have been reading this forum for several months, but was just able to join. I have gleaned a great deal of useful information from this forum and wanted to thank all of you for your time and effort to help others out. It has been a great aid to me. Thanks again, DixieDawgs

On Sunday Morning CBS News, Bill Geist enrolls in Hot Dog University and learns everything you need to know to turn that dream into reality. Join him behind the cart and see if he has what it takes to make it in the mobile food service industry. Sunday Morning CBS News November 18th 8:00am CST/9:00am Eastern CBS CSD

Hello All, DixieDawgs, may all the stress and problems you encounter be doubled and realized in the profits you make. I trully admire anyone that starts a business, and all I have are great feelings for you. I live for 6 yrs. in Tuscaloosa, a close neighbor-city of yours. I can be a witness that your venture is needed in the area. You have rich marketing potentials which will work well with good food. I wish you well. Fieldthistle

Thank you one and all. CajunKing - once I have everything finalized I will post my location and I hope you come by for a visit. I received tentative approval from the city on my first choice yesterday. wheregreggeats.com - I have had the same feeling for several years now. My profession (soon to be previous I hope) is IT project management, and has allowed me to travel a great deal and I always looked at the vendors I met with admiration and a bit of envy. With the prompting of my family I have decided to make jump. Assuming all goes well over the next week or so, and I can finalize everything to my liking, I hope to be up and running around the first of the year. I am trading in a greater income for a greater love, so it has taken me a while to make the final leap. All I can say is sometimes you have to take a leap of faith (reinforced with good planning - the PM in me will always be there I guess.) I hope you can make that leap someday as well. CSD - thank you, I will watch, I also may be contacting you about HotDogU as well. Ev1L - Awesome, from where to where? Maybe we can hook up and enjoy a good dog together. Fieldthistle - that sounds like an old Irish blessing - thanks!! T-town was my home for a few years as well, as a student and walk-on for the Tide. I hope to do events down there next year. I am sure you are familiar with the quad, on Game days there are now 50,000 plus people watching the games on jumbo screens on the quad, plus the 92,000 at the stadium, I think I could sell a dog or two on those days! lleechef - thanks, I and I do plan on contacting CSD, in fact I hope to attend his class, if I get everything worked out in time and he has openings I may try to make his Dec class, if not I guess I will have to wait until April. I am a great believer in finding the best people at what they do and watching, listening and learning from them. rickmalek - I love BG - I had a few over night stops there. I remember a real good pizza place and a sandwich shop that both delivered to my hotel. I always regretted not getting out to see the city more, but long days and many travel miles almost always kept me in my room during my trips to/thru BG. Maybe you can slide down 65 during the cold winters and pay me a visit. Again, thanks one and all. DD

I wish you good luck on your business. If I were in your area (and still a meat eater) I would certainly give your cart a try.
