Maybe the Mayor had something to do with the improvement. He is a politician you know

Would be interesting to know.

The simple answer is that Roadfood.com has become very, very popular lately. The server did not have enough memory allocated to keep the site running. So it got bogged down with all the page requests.

Actually I was having the same problem for about a week....I actually got a response that it MIGHT be due to the blossoming traffic here...BUT..now all is well!!

It's a tad better today. For the past week I could click on to this site, do three loads of laundry, vacuum, shop for dinner, make dinner, clean up after dinner, and than the site might have come up...
Just a little humor to lighten up your day...

Hesitant to broach this topic again, but has anyone else had any trouble accessing Roadfood for the past 50 minutes or so? No problem with getting it several times earlier in the day, but have been attempting to get back into it for the past 50 minutes, with absolutely no success until now. However, during this period had no trouble getting any other website I tried. Glad back here now, but just wondered if it was my computer or ISP or the website. Maybe Roadfood website is just so busy it can't handle all the load all the time; its surely good enough to be "overloaded" more than it is. PS - Just attempted to use the "Preview Reply" feature which was malfunctioning as it did when trouble back a week or two earlier.

Liketoeat,
during the same time frame you were trying, I was having problems too. I always like to check in quickly before I leave work(super high speed connection don't ya know) Did finally get in but it was real slow. Last night at one point I was failing to get any kind of connection for a while around 7PM.

This question does not concern the Roadfood website being slow, but has anyone else noticed the past couple of days that occasionally you'll note a "last posting" stated in the roster but then when you go to that forum that posting isn't there. Had never noticed this before yesterday. Don't know if it's some malfunction, a case of the individual stated as "last poster" having subsequently cancelled it, or what. Just wondering.

make sure it isn't just an edit of an existing post. This used to get me all the time until I learned to check for that.

Thanks. ocdreamer, that's exactly what it was in the one case I could chase down, so I'm certain that was the same situation with the other two yesterday. Figured there had to be some explanation, but didn't think of that, even though had gotten into something else once before didn't understand and then figured out was the edit matter. Will just have to keep that in mind. Thanks again.

Will one of you nice people try to give me some idea why emoticons aren't working on this particular computer. What setting could I possibly have fiddled with that would cause this disaster? I am too close to being a complete smarty pants to not have them. Without them someone may confuse my witty repartee for mean spirited sarcasm, and that would be bad for me and insulting to them. I really enjoy my daily drive down the roadfood trail and would like to make it as safe as possible for all concerned. I see those cute little emoticons as visual safety belts in this high powered internet automobile. If I have them on nobody gets hurt. While I am kind of a crusty cynic, I rarely have the intention of doing anything but a little harmless tweaking, but in a written environment, my keyboard gets ahead of my (supposedly) good sense and I tend to drive a little wild.
Thanks for all advice in advance.

Hate to bring this subject back up, but am just curious if its only my computer and/or ISP or are others finding this website extremely slow at times today and occasionally getting no results (until redo) or some odd results when trying to go to various spots in it. Hope its just me, but was just wondering.

MAYHAW--Try drawing the damn face on the computer monitor with a crayon...then smack it full force with a hammer to make it stick to the post...You probably will be able to do this only one time...but it will be worth the frustrations have been having !! Besides New Monitors are cheap!!
Seriously...Are you creating posts using the 'quickie' reply or the 'full service reply'? With the quickie you can only add a smilie to the end of the message... with the full service you can go back and put them anywhere you want.

Like To... I have a very slow dial-up AOL service here. best connection I seem to get is about 31,200 bps. That makes everything slow. BUT Lately I have had the "Error" message come up when I try to go to a topic on the boards...Usually I get the connection on the 2nd or 3rd try.

Mayor, thanks for info. I have a cable tv computer connection which is supposed to be fast, but Roadfood has been particularly slow today. Have not received any "Error" messages, but have frequently found today if I click on the forum topic I want, I may never get to it, but if then click on the next topic in the list and then back to the topic I want, I can get on there reasonably fast then. Also had another thing or two misdircted within the website today. Just was wondering if problem with website, my compuer, ISP, or the internet, what with all these crazy viruses, Trojan horses, whatever, going on and around now. Thanks.
