Now that the weather is cooling off here in central Texas it might just be time for a bowl of beef vegetable soup and some crusty sourdough bread.

I made chewingthefat's cream of crab soup Friday to have after the HS football game.  Not as good as his.  The reason:  upon close examination of the can, I found "product of Vietnam".    Next time I will use Maryland crab.

I made mushroom soup tonight along with a grilled cheese.  I used Campbell's crème of mushroom soup along with about a pound of mushrooms, pepper and some other spices.  Not scratch but very good.  Enough for me to take Mamaw Smith some for her lunch tomorrow along with a grilled cheese.
 
I wonder how many of you use a canned soup as a base to improve your soup?

OK, it wasn't as good as his, but it was delicious.

Is menudo considered a soup? Most folks I talk to can't imagine eating it but I do so enjoy a good bowl, either red or white. Funny thing though, most Tex-Mex places around here don't make it, not even on weekends.
