Italian Beef at Wendy's!

Today i heard a radio spot for Wendy's new Italian Beef sandwich.I'm in Chicago!!! Anyway it boasted that they use Papa Charlie's special recipe! LMAO! I almost choked!

I might try it just because it's different. Who the heck is Papa Charlie?

^^You can buy a bucket of his beef & au jus at Sam's Club.

There's no Italian Beef sandwich any Wendy's in Central Ohio, and I can't find it on their website, either. Must be a local Chicago thing.

No sign of Italian Beef in Baltimore. The big thing Wendy's is pushing now is a chicken snack wrap. Ahhh...way to be out in front of that trend.

I'm in the Chicago area too and I've seen TV ads for the thing and saw a banner for it when we passed a Wendys. I can't imagine how terrible it is and do not want to waste my money trying.

It must be a regional thing. In Charlotte Wendy's has a Carolina Classic burger with slaw and chili.

must be a regional thing.Here in Universal City,and I guess the San Antonio area,Wendy's had like a deli type sandwich a couple of years back. It had sundried tomatoes,and other stuff,and they had a couple of others on that same line.
The Wendy's down on FM78 in Converse advertizes breakfast,but the one in UC and Schertz doesn't have it yet. Must be a trial deal,guess if it works,then they may expand it.

Oh, they sold pizza just about everywhere. But not for long.

I have to admit, I tried those lobster rolls at McDonalds in Massachusettes . While, they didn't come even remotely in the neighborhood to the real McCoy, they weren't terrible, and in fact, I preferred it to most everything else on their menu. It was quite a while ago, I think I paid ~3.50 for the lobster roll. It was worth the moeny...feel free to read into that comment any way you wish.

I never did try the pizza, and it isn't THAT cheap, so I cannot figure out why they still sell it at McDonalds in NYC, when a slice at Ray's is $2.

I didn't realize McDonald's was still selling pizza anywhere.

Yea, that Wendy's is down the street from me, I had to do a double take when I saw that in the window. I love italian beef so I will try it, but my expectations are very low.

That's a flawed theory. Dominos and Sbarros thrive in NYC and have for a long time. Papa John's is moving in rapidly too.

You're right. Chicagoans have no self-respect. We have such a cruddy dining scene here.

Or it could be that Chicago is a large population center that would obviously attract chain restaurants, possibly tied in with the fact that McDonalds world headquarters is located here.

Just stay where you are. There is nothing worth seeing or eating in Chicago.

I did not say NO Chicagoan would eat there..... we have our share of those who do not know good food, but an Italian Beef at WENDY's is for the masses, not the refined (or in this case selective) diner in Chicago!

I have visited 1,000's of cities and Chicago has some of the best choices going. From Beefs, to Mexican, to Indian, to Italian, the list is endless. IF you know the city, you can eat great, at a fair price... if you do NOT, you get a Beef at WENDY's.

I am one of the photo stylists who worked on Papa Charlie's Italian Beef Sandwich for Wendy's a few months back...it really is good! I was a fan of Papa Charlie's prior to working on this. The beef is very tender, nice amount of beef, zero fat on the beef, with a great au jus. They will ask you for provolone cheese or without. Of course, I always have to taste test in the stores/restaurants I style for, and I was very pleased with the final product. The sandwich is on a wonderful sour dough type bun, pretty sure everyone should like this sandwich. It does not taste fast food at all...
They are showing the Papa Murphy's logo and the Cubs logo on the banner, along with a photo. It is in select Wendy's in the Chicagoland area.

Yes, my first post, came up after a google search for the Wendy's Italian Beef Sandwich...I was looking for the photo of the sandwich on-line after seeing it yesterday at Wendy's. I do get samples after working on a shot, but usually takes a while. Thought I would pull a photo up for my portfolio...no, not a Wendy's spy at all Would be a great job though...I like and dislike many different fast food restaurants.

I had never heard of this site until yesterday and I will certainly browse more and post in my free time.
