Its actually a shame

Living in landk locked and seafood deprived SW Ohio i was at first excited of the prospect of a place with the name of "Joe's Crab Shack"! Being smart enough to research first I found how disappointed i would have been if i had actually gone there. Now I see these new menu Items on TV and am really ready to give it a shot. That Bean Town deal looked awesome as did the Cajun. I happened to remember driving by the only on in the Dayton area a bit ago and it seemed closed. Sure enough the closest is in Columbus! Now Im bummed. Has anybody given any of these new 'Regional Specialties" a shot? britt

They've already shut down one of the Joe's in Columbus, and I suppose that if you don't mind the noise, the lousy service and the generally terrible food it might be worth a drive to Dublin to try the new things.

They've been showing those commercials at least four times an hour for the last week here. As far as I know, we don't have one in West Michigan nor do they plan to build one. I'm going to go ahead and assume it wouldn't be worth the drive to Ohio...

I'm ashamed to say it's now my new favorite chain restaurant. I don't like the noise or the crowd, but the steamer pots that they have are unbelieveably good. Maybe because it's not something usually (or at all) found in the Los Angeles area. I've had the boiled crawfish and the steamer pot that contained crabs, shrimp, clams, potatos and a sausage. It didn't need the sausage. I want it again. If I could only get someone else to go with me!

After enough poking around I finally found a bit of info. The Bean Towne Deal sounds like the ticket! 2 chick lobsters(the law allows them only to be so small). Along with a lound of steamers, shrimp, corn, sausage, potatoes and corn on the cob just cant be beat for 35 bux here in the mid west. Ill never make it as its either down to Cinci and the Riverfront or Columbus and the wife isnt a sea food fan. But I have a dream!

They've been showing the commercials here frequently too. The closest one to me is an hour and a half away! It's just so much cheaper for me to make this kind of thing at home.

The one in Lexington, KY, is closed. All I remember was the noise and the long wait for the food. Maybe they've changed. I agree it's easier and cheaper (and probably better) to make these things at home and avoid the noise and the wait. The one we went to in Louisville wasn't bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Andrea

Someone who tried the one with the teeny-weeny lobsters (and if they come from Canada they can be even smaller than anything allowed to be harvested in the States) said they use littlenecks instead of steamers for their steamed clams.
