It's going to be a long night...

Up first is the opening round of the NFL draft, which is always good for interesting twists & some head-scratching picks (On the clock: The Oakland Raiders.) Then after a short nap, comes the Royal Wedding, on just about every channel you receive. You don’t often get two more diverse offerings of “reality” TV back to back.

Nothing beats "Goat and Hog Hunting on Maui" at 8:00 AM. A much more pleasant way to start the day than listening to Meredith Viera and Matt Lauer try to ad-lib about 'Commoners in London'. Old Road-Runner cartoons are another prime morning show !

I'll be sure to stop watching TV when royalty is acting all royal....I seem to recall that Americans pretty much said "no more royals" somewhere around 1776.

I'll be watching Kitchen Nightmares when the wedding airs here. La Frite, a restaurant in Sherman Oaks, California will be disaster on this episode. I ate there in January after Chef Ramsey "fixed" it. Prices were up and the choices were down. Ramsey's name was on the menu and I had mussels. A small dish of mussels for a huge price won't keep them in business. It's still going to be a long night.

I'm all set for the draft. I'll be wearing my Boomer pajamas, my Kiper slippers and my Mortensen robe, and I'll be sipping my Jack Daniels out of my Hoffman glass.

Geez, listen to Mel drone on about how the Chargers missed an oppertunity, then hours of "Oh isn't the Queen wearing a pretty hat". No thanks.

I'll be skipping the queen stuff. I'll be too busy as I have a navel to contemplate.

Gotta Luv British Humor! Regarding Security for the Royal Wedding: By John Cleese The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada. The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards". They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years. The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender". The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country's military capability. Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing". Two more levels remain:"Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides". The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs". They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose". Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels . The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy. Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be alright, Mate". Two more escalation levels remain: "Crikey! I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!" and "The barbie is canceled". So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.

Well, time to warm up the television set and settle in to see who grabs Newton and Gabbert.

The plans are all se t. I am hosting a 6 AM "tea breakfast" for my eight year old granddaughter and two of her friends who have gone to bed early and will arrive here at 5:45 AM. to watch the wedding. The menu, set up by my granddaughter, will consist of hot sweet milky tea. ,bagels, and cream cheese with lox, and lots of strawberries! I have my alarm all set and laughing my head off. I will probably be wiped out by the time they get on the bus for school at 8:40 but heck, this is all about making wonderful memories for kids!

My grandaughter's "breakfast tea party" " was a "smashing" success. They enjoyed their food very much and were loving all the hats and making comments on them. They decided that they want trees in the church when they get married...........but not the sad music and only the drums. When they were finished eating my grandaughter asked if desserts were not served at fancy teas and I told her "yes" and that I had some molasses cookies on hand. She said they were not fancy enough so that she would take care of dessert. When I came out of my showere, there they sat...............eating hot fudge sundaes and jelly bellys and chocolcate bunnies! You have to have iron stomachs to eat that at 8 AM!
