So, is the consensus for Kopp's on Sunday rather than Jake's on Saturday? If so, which location? Time?

If we're in the neighborhood on Sunday, we may stop by. Here's a piece of valuable information about an upcoming Miwaukee event that involves Roadfood:

Date: Saturday, April 19th
Time: 10:30am-3:00pm
Event: Gallery Day in the Milwaukee Historic Third Ward
Place: Metropawlis Dog Boutique & Bakery
Address: 317 N. Broadway Milwaukee, WI

Hot Dog University students will be vending Vienna Beef products at the above site. The menu will include: natural casing hot dogs, Polish, "Big Wally," and Coke products.

Come rain or shine, we'll be there. The cart will be under a roof protected sidewalk in front of the store. Pets are welcome.

The Big Wally looks pornographic.

I think I can make 76th at 1. Maybe 1.30, but you'll prolly all still be there, right?

Ok, the Jake's corned beef trip is on hold but I'm craving corned beef. What to do? Mrs. MFL and I make a trip to McBob's Saturday. I'm afraid the picture is woefully overexposed but you'll see that it was one heck of a great corned beef sandwich. Very different from Jake's, so I will only say that each are great and I'll return to both just about anytime. I started with a truly great Bloody and one where the bartender (we ate at the bar) asked mild, medium or hot? I asked for hot, I got hot and it tasted chipotle hot which I just loved. It also came with a Klement's beef stick and those are great beef sticks. I had a choice of any beer so I chose a Guiness. Smithwicks, Harp, and a good selection of local microbeers were my other choices. This bar is a local treasure (it was my first trip, 2nd for Mrs MFL) and all sorts of locals popped in and out along with a great take-out business. I also got a brat and it ranks among the finest locally. It came on a grilled bun adorned with saurkraut, relish, raw onions and minced tomato's. They have a horseradish mustard to go with Frank's hot chili-lime sauce and our local favorite for dogs and brats, ketchup. My next trip will be for breakfast and some of that Buffetbuster special corned beef hash!

Well that was a pleasant diversion on a chilly but gloriously bright Sunday afternoon! Just got home after meeting chicagostyledog and Nina, MilwFoodlovers, stricken detective, and X1 for big-as-a-dinner-plate burgers and frozen custard.

The burger was good, especially the fried onions, but the custard (and the company, I guess) made the 140 mile round trip worth it. Red Raspberry is self explanatory and very tasty. The Imperial Torte was outstanding! To quote "Into our custard we add caramel, rum and nougat flavors, then sprinkle in French pastry crusts and chocolate flakes. Once a year in remembrance of Elsa, our founder."

I picked up a pint of the raspberry and two pints of the Imperial Torte. I might share one of the pints with my daughter, abe froeman, but only because she has a birthday coming up next week.

Next Sunday's flavor is Maple Syrup & Pancakes! If we get back from our first Barbecue business trip (Pittsburgh, PA) at a reasonable hour Saturday night, I will try to meet the group yet again.

Sunday I am unavailable, as I have a prior committment that escaped me when I heard about Maple Syrup & Pancakes custard. Pancakes = I will have to make do with a scoop after my event @ the Brookfield location.

Saturday, however, we plan on a Jake's run, then to the Third Ward to support CSD & to check out Metropawlis, they have such nice things. Anyone care to join MFL & Mrs MFL & me in that venture?

I'm up for Jake's this Saturday. If I read that correctly.
I had the butter brickle at Kopp's last Saturday. It was good. AND good for me.

I can't make Jake's, but I will try to join y'all at Metropawlis. Call me when you are there.

I am, for sure, without a doubt, going to be at Kopp's on Sunday for Maple Syrup & Pancakes custard.

What time at Kopp's on Sunday? 1pm works for me. Of course all that depends on what time we get home from Pittsburgh Saturday night (very early Sunday morning). Lunch and custard at Kopp's or should we get food elsewhere?

10:30am Saturday Jake's-I'm doing both corned beef and pastrami

No Sunday Kopp's for us but I see that Friday has tiramisu and Saturday is sort of a Racine Horlicks Day what with malt custard mixed with malted milk balls!!!!

Actually, Buddy, I am now not sure when I can make it to Kopp's on Sunday.
I'll be in Mequon for lunch, and I have no idea when I'll make it back to my side of town.
I'm sorry!!!

If you you don't want to go this Sunday, I'll understand - I'm sure they'll have this flavor again!
If you go, and I can't join you, then c'est la vie, and I will see you again soon, I'm sure!

Like I say, it will all depend on how easily I bounce back from the return trip from Pittsburgh. I won't know for sure until I wake up Sunday morning.

I'm working on Sunday so I won't be able to make it to Kopp's. I would otherwise since it's right down the road from where I live.

Jake's deli was sold. One of the previous owners is still there and has added three new sandwiches. I haven't been there in two years. If you eat at Jake's in the future, kindly post an update.

I'll never tell! However, one of the partners still owns Jake's , the food's still the same, with three new additions to the menu, and some operational changes. You should definitely enjoy it.
