I'm happy to report that things haven't changed much at Jake's. They dressed up the menu board and Michael's absence from behind the counter was a bit disconcerting, but that's about it. Admittedly, I didn't notice the added sandwiches -- everybody was still ordering corned beef or pastrami. Hinting at a post I'll make later when I have more time, Jake's still dominates the corned beef sandwich landscape in Milwaukee in my opinion simply because the other corned beef heavyweights around MKE use awful, awful bread. It bears noting that 1/3 ownership in Jake's is still held by Brian Miller of Miller Bakery (as well as 1/3 still by Bud Selig). Gary Plassmeyer, the new Managing Partner seems to "get it" when it comes to ensuring continuity of the joint. Just in case, I asked him to please, please don't change anything.
