I've mentioned Jake's Hamburgers a couple times on threads about favorite burgers. They've been a favorite of mine for a few years now. It's a thin patty, cooked on a flat frying surface and they use nothing but freshly ground beef. You put your own salt and pepper on the burgers and they have a pretty big list of toppings that they put on according to each individual customer's wishes.

I just noticed they've opened a location in Rocky Hill, CT, so I thought I'd mention it since there are a lot of roadfooders in Connecticut. The original Jake's and about half of their dozen or so locations are in northern Delaware. But based on how spread out the rest of their locations are, they seem eager to expand their number of franchises.

Their menu has expanded over the years I've been going to them, but I've never ordered anything other than a double cheeseburger. It comes no frills, on paper plates. They also serve shakes in the metal cups they're made in if you're eating there and have a nice selection of milkshake flavors. I obviously have no way of knowing how good the location in Connecticut is (I think it opened in the past month or so), but I've tried four of their locations in Delaware and southeastern PA and have been very happy with the burgers almost every time (there were one or two occasions where they weren't as juicy as usual, but that was the exception rather than the rule).

You can find more on them at www.jakeshamburgers.com.

I don't work for them or have any interest in promoting them. I just love their burgers.

I don't understand why they haven't opened one here in South Jersey yet! We've eaten at two in Delaware, and were happy with both times. However, location-wise, we're partial, so far, to the one in the Roselle Shopping Center on Kirkwood Hwy., as opposed to the one in Claymont. For some reason I felt the neighborhood to be a bit more sketchy there. Anyway...

I've been to Jake's numerous times.  Good fresh ground beef burger (not done rare for those interested) on a bargain basement roll.  I think a good burger deserves a better roll.  Frozen fries, not fresh.  Milkshakes are good.  I prefer the fries and the roll at Five Guys.  Service is usually quick and usually somewhere to sit outside.

Ah - a new CT burger place! We'll be checking this out in the next couple of weeks, I'm sure, and we'll report back!

I think each patty is around 3 ounces. Like I said, I always get a double. Harriet's photos give a good idea of the thickness of the patties.

Always happy to spread the word on good food, Harriet! Nice photos, by the way.

Another squeeze the juice out of the burger joint. I can't bare to watch them kill meat like that. So sad.
