Jalapenos in Chester, VA

Recently we spent the night in Chester, VA. Less than a block away from our motel/hotel stood Jalapenos – a Mexican Restaurant. What a pleasant surprise! We were quite tired after some difficult driving through some very wet weather. The stop at Chester was not planned but welcomed. There is nothing fancy about Jalapenos. The atmosphere is basic bistro/family and friendly. The whole staff was very friendly and aimed to please. Tables are Formica covered, the lighting indirect and soft. I wasn’t too hungry so I ordered a plate of three tacos ($5.00). My wife ordered “El Trio” – one chicken quesadilla, one beef taquito and two jalapeno poppers plus garnish ($6.50) Our meal arrived quickly even though it had been cooked to order. This was some of the best Mexican food that we have ever eaten! I sincerely recommend Jalapenos! --- http://www.jalapenosmexican.com Their site indicates that they have just opened a second location. Hope it’s as good. Bill

BrooklynBill, I'm not sure exactly how often you're in the neck of the woods of central Virginia but just west of Chester in Chesterfield is: It's, perhaps, dated but as noted here, Brock's Barbecue (11310 Ironbridge Road, Chesterfield, Virginia 804 / 796-7539) is billed by Richmond's Style Weekly as a BBQ haunt which "will send you home to the couch fat and happy" and my last visit there featured their great value buffet which, for just $ 5.95, features delicious pulled pork and chicken BBQ, fried chicken, cornbread stuffing, green beans and bacon, mashed potatoes, collard greens, coleslaw, potato salad and so much more. FYI.
