Just got going

Hi , Ive been lurking for a few months now, I was let go (fired) from my last job after ten years. I was looking for some pots for my wife at a local restaurant supplier to make soap , yes Soap, in and I got talking to the owner and made a deal. He had a house that needed rewiring and he said he would trade a tiny concession trailer and a 30 qt mixer (for my wife) for the job. And so after wiring the house he kept his promise and gave me the trailer, mixer, AND funnel cake fryer, four sinks, a hot water heater, pump, electrical panel, stainless shelf, silver king freezer, clean tank, waste water tank, soft serve ice cream machine , belshaw donut robot, chili warmer, and enough supplies for four parties. I bought a cotton candy machine , a gold medal hot dog grill and we have a snow cone machine. The trailer came with an old sears fridge and freezer and I removed them. The tow/step hitch was in terrible shape (rotten) so I cut it off and fabricated a whole new one using the original ball and jack. I installed the tanks, sinks, heater and pump . I cut up the shelf and made three stainless shelf areas out of it. I bolted the silver king freezer to the floor and to give extra work space on top of it. I used copper pipe for the water lines. I used about seven quarts on gloss white paint and 5 cans of spray paint. I got my heath permit last week and paid the local city for electricity for the month to set up on the square. And so here we go.

Wow great first post. It sounds like your way ahead of the others that come here and post dozens of questions daily for 3 or 4 months and never do any research or seem to make any personal effort. Congratulations you'll do well my friend. Please post some pictures when you get a chance. And welcome to Roadfood. Jack

Well I uploaded some photo's, they're a little out of sequence. The Hitch/step was cut off and I had replaced the box sections with some bigger sections from some warehouse racking metal. The tread plate was from a local scrap yard as new sheets where $180 for 1/8 thick. Luckily they had a pile of precut widths in a pile, for 10 cents a pound and they just fit the back bumper . The unit is a Waymatic and is available still on their website HTTP://www.waymatic.com . They run about $26,000! The other photos show some interior sinks and hot water tanks, the final photo is on the local town square, ready for the hungry masses.

What a deal!!! You did a great job, Jack!!! Looks like you are all set and ready to roll! Based on your extensive list of equipment, there are tons of menu possiblities. What is on the agenda?

That is why I have been on Roadfood so much lately lol. I was doing the hot dog cart on the side while I was working full time. I am trying to make this cart my full time job now. That trailer looks great and good luck to ya.

Well I was trying to get everything together today, for my first day on the square but I found myself in Kroger ( food store) trying to decide what dogs to buy. I was going to get the hebrew nationals but then they had a special on some other variety with Aukisa ? beef, buy one get one free. It was 11.36 and so after all the running around and fine tuning of the trailer ( light covers for the tubes) I ran out of time. So tomorrow its the local flea market...

Quick Dog, I also got laid off, but it was 5 1/2 years ago. Went out on my own, have never regretted it. Best desision corporate America ever made, get rid of me! lol Hey, trailer looks nice. Good luck.

That kinda looks like my old Waymatic trailer except mine is probably 4 ft longer and has a flat grill in it. It's a tank. It weighs a zillion pounds and the sides are constructed of REAL steel. I basically gutted it except for the grill and put in all new sinks, counters and plumbing. It makes my V8 F-150 wheeze on hills. LOL

Nice waymatic those trailers are cream of the crop. Like allan said in the previous post they are heavy as tank but they will last forever.
