Just watched a great movie

I just watched Caine Mutiny for the umptheen time. . A great World War II movie, and one of Humprey Bogart's three best. Bogart in Caine, African Queen and Casablanca ------- were his best as far as I am concerned. Funny reasons why I like Caine---I was tied up (our ship) along side the same dock in Pearl they show in the movie. We road out the same typhoon the Caine did. Gotta love that movie.

Bogart is a favorite of mine. And I watched The Third Man immediately following the mutiny!

Chewy-----fingers crossed, baloney ---- that's a sneaky trick--- how can I be sure your fingers are crossed. Well anyhow come closer to the moniter and I'll whisper it to you. Did you hear what I said------good, it will be our secret. Mellow----as in Marshmellow ----yes---Boggy was a great actor--- he got better and better as he aged. If he had lived as long as Chewing the Fat he would have been terrific--might even have opened a Bar-B-Q Joint.

And he wasn't only a great movie actor. I caught a radio marathon on xm of bogie shows. One was a Suspense and then a few of some show he did many episodes of with Lauren Bacal. Made a four hour drive go pretty quick.

Hell no, there were 300 of them. We only lost 10,000 but we whipped them good. Don't listen to those history buffs or you will be doomed to repeat it all over again. And no restaurant entrepreneur likes people who repeat. Very uncouth.

My favorite Bogart Movie was with Bacall in "To Have and Have Not", I love the other character actors in the piece, especially Walter Brennan as the drunken Eddie. And who can resist some of the famous lines....

You mean like, "Was you ever bit by a dead bee?" I have to say that although I really like To Have and Have Not, I personally found Walter Brennan's character extremely annoying in that film.

Fell madly, head over heels in love with Lauren Bacall in that, her first movie. Met her in 1984 and the thrill was gone. All you have to do is whistle. And you know how to whistle, just put your lips together and blow. Loved Hogey Carmichael his piano playing, match chewing and his songs. "How Little We Know" Bacall sings it "Am I Blue" --There was a most unfortunate colored man Who got 'rested down in old Hong Kong he got 20 years privelege taken away from him Cause he kicked old Budah's Gong -----(don't know the title)

I was thinking more along the lines of... the ancient mariner All you have to do is whistle. And you know how to whistle, just put your lips together and blow.

.Hong Kong Blues, now why couldn't I remember that. I knew the tune and the words but not the title. The mind is a terrible thing to lose. Hoagy was great. Had a little band in Indiana and a guy sat in once in a while, kid named Bix Beiderbecke--an Irish lad----tooted a mean horn. True story---my wife and I went to the Starlight Roof of the Waldorf Astoria to see and hear Count Basie, his band and vocalist Joe Williams, the great blues singer. We were dancing ---kinda ---when I realised the guy next to us was Hoagy. I leaned over and said---Love your tie, Hoagy. He stopped, dancing and whipped off his tie and handed it to me---never said a word. I whipped off my favorite tie in the whole world and handed mine to him. He bowed and danced away. I hated his tie, but tacked it up on a wall at home with a note---Compliments of Hoagy Carmichael. Much better than an autograph which would get lost in a week.
