Well please understand that what KFC is trying to reach with it's bowl meals is a YOUNGER client. It's a huge hit with the teens & early twenty crowd. That's what they were reaching for, and they got it.

Hello All, Mack184, "a YOUNGER client." OUCH You're probably right. I'm waiting for KFC bowl of strained chicken soup. Whatever works for the profit makes sense for business. Can't fight with that. Take Care, Fieldthistle

That "chop" doesn't sound bad to make at home. Taco bell? A taco bell taco bowl will be next, or... is it already being sold? Joe

I could eat a McDonald's Quarter Pounder if I was starving, but those "bowls" turn my stomach. Like I said before, I can't fathom what kind of demented mind would even think of offering something like this. This crap is cheap, so it's filling at minimum cost. Of course, along with Dominos cheese stuffed pizzas, offered with a dessert of iced cinnamon sticks and dipping sauce, is the unhealthiest stuff on earth. I too get nauseated looking at that pile of garbage....all starches, fats, and calories, not a bit of fiber or protein. Guess who's going to buy it - low income people, already at a higher risk for heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. Oh yeah, don't forget to wash it all down with a 2 liter bottle of coke.......yecch!

RE- The Black Bean and Rice and Chicken Bowl (with Salsa and Guacamoli) was one of the big draws at EL POLLO LOCO back in the 70's and 80's. I knew them in SoCal and Vegas, but I think they were regional beyond that..or National for a while. Anyone know who bought them or what happened? Those Black Bean Bowls were pretty tasty!

Wasn't quite enough calories and fat grams already?

I'm glad it isn't just me who doesn't 'get' the concept - it looks like what you get cleaning out the fridge, not something you'd go out and buy. Oh yeah - flower power, man. Do your own thing. Peace out.

Add all of the above to the recent news that they will go to the new No Trans-Fat frying technique, and you have a bowl of Tasteless Sludge.

since trans-fat oils added no real flavor difference from other oil, it must have been a bowl of tasteless sludge before the change - because changing to non trans fatty oil will not affect the flavor one bit.

Perhaps they should add a second topping of chili to give it some flavor - of course, that little bit of meat might hike up the price.

They could always just increase the levels of GHB they put in their products to make it more attractive *cough* addictive.

quote:Originally posted by Ashphalt Saw a commercial last night for KFC's new product. Essentially a bowl of mashed with gravy, frankenchicken nuggets, corn and cheese. So, it's a basic KFC meal, boneless, less the green almost-vegetable, with added sugar, starch and fat in a form convenient for shovelling. Can anyone explain this concept? If the idea is to inhale calories as quickly as possible, why don't they just throw it all in a blender and give you a straw? This is a really disgusting idea by KFC. It seems to be inspired by Canada's national dish, Poutine. I think I'll pass on it and I have a feeling it wno't be around too long.

I tried it a few months ago - I had to, because it looked horrifying. Kind of like how I had to try a deep-fried Twinkie at the fair. It was disgusting (as was the deep-fried Twinkie). I actually mix my food a lot - for instance, when I get a cheese enchilada and rice, I mix them together - so that wasn't the disgusting part, to me. It was just disgusting because it was KFC - lots of grease. And strangely tasteless...
