KFC Original Recipe Strips

OK, so KFC has seen better days, but has anyone tried the original recipe strips yet? I had them today, and was pleasantly surprised. Reasonably flavorful, and nowhere near as greasy as the on-the-bone version. Honestly not bad, IMO. I might actually start visiting KFC again.

Yep, have not been there for a year or so, but needed something fast and saw the special on their sign. I too was happy with the strips, and they threw in some extra pieces. The biscuit was no good, though, dry and hard. The twister is a nice sandwich.

I must say that I've never been very fond of KFC's biscuits. They always seem dry and hard. I don't like Mrs. Winner's biscuits much better, either. I tend to prefer the biscuits from Church's...greasy as homemade sin, and with a strong hint of honey and butter. I'm almost betting that Church's deep-fries their biscuits, but I'm nt 100% on that. Anyhow, back to KFC, I'm not terribly crazy about the twister, myself. I liked the old Original recipe sandwich from about 10 years ago (sans sauce and lettuce for me, though), but I haven't seen a KFC that offered it in years. I finally found one locally that still offers the TenderRoast sandwich, so I may be due for one of those sometime soon. The chain is also now advertising a new sandwich that appears to be similar to the old OR sandwich (Colonel's Cravin', or some such name), which I'm interested to investigate. Any way you slice it, KFC seems to have lost its ability to serve chicken on-the-bone that is worth eating...it's always a grease-ball, at least from my perspective. However, the flip side is that they've started to offer some interesting strips and sandwiches and such.

Are they not screaming, if you read between the lines, that nothing else is "original" ???

Are the strips really original, or a dressed up sodium delivery system?

Got some original strips yesterday. Strips were kind of small but tasty! I will try them again.

They are "original recipe" as opposed to the strips that they have been peddling which were "crispy strips". I'll go so far as to say my 3 strips deal with biscuit, soda and side item was variable. The new original strips taste good. The biscuit and mashed potato/gravy side both tasted like cardboard.

Hubby and I went to KFC last week, had not been there in a couple years. Me and my daughter used to get the 3 strip meals, and could never finish them! This trip, I was shocked at how small the strips were! They were literally half the size of what they used to be! Not sure if this is due to the economy, or we got the tail end of the batch! This used to be a pretty good meal, but now........Will probably NOT be back anytime soon............

The KFC in the town where I work has a sign that says "New Original Strips." My oxymoron alert goes off every time I pass it.

Had the $3.99 Original Strips Deal for $3.99 - overall I was impressed - the pieces were of good size, and they threw in a few smaller pieces as well. Had it with my all time fave KFC slaw. Not a bad meal for $4.

I've tried the Original Strips and they are pretty good. I got them with the cole slaw and the green beans. They are definitely a sodium fest, and not something I would get on a regular basis. Andrea

I wrote an email to KFC complaining about the size of the strips in our strip meals, and received a letter in the mail stating that their employees are told to throw in extra pieces if the size of the strips are minimal. Also got 2 free strip meals, so I will give them a try again!

I'm going to KFC probably tomorrow at some point to try these strips.

Turns out not so awesome. Stopped by there on my way home from work to make use of the coupon for 2 free strip meals, and when I got them home, they were exactly the same skimpy size of the ones I had formely complained about, the got me the coupon. I don't know whether I should email the manager back letting him know this, or just let it go......... sigh..............

They also now serve an original recipe fillet sandwich with pickle (sound familiar?) and your choice of regular or spicy mayo. Combo w/fries and drink about $5.

It has been too long...what a crazy past couple of months. But...I moved to Brooklyn a couple of months back, and now I have a KFC within walking distance that happens to be a pretty good one for a city FF business. It gets a lot of business from me and my roommate, and we've totally walked out of there near closing time with huge buckets of chicken with sides and biscuits for mere change. I don't know why they changed the strip, to be honest. I'm not a fan of the new ones. Not only are they smaller, but the taste is a bit more bland, and if they've sat under the lights a bit too long, you'll know it. I wouldn't be too much of a snob and say it's like eating shoe leather, but a batch I had one time was flirting with it. The rubbery-ness was nearly there. I'd like to think we have this new version for one of two reasons: the chain's changing of its cooking oil to one without trans fat (the old strip not selling as well without its "makeup"), or the success of the Snacker. Surprisingly, in a Snacker, this new strip meshes its flavor with the mayo pretty well, and it's more "holder-friendly" (no longer looking like a strip sticking out of a bun) to the consumer. You can just tell these things are cheaper, though...they just replaced the missing meat with more spices to prop up the product.

For years I was a fairly regular customer of KFC, but now I'm about ready to give up on them altogether. The quality just keeps going downhill, and there are other ( and better ) options for FF chicken around here, such as Chicago's own Brown's Chicken & Pasta chain. KFC's biscuits are truly abysmal; even worse than McDonald's and Burger King's. KFC needs to send a few of their management people down to No. Carolina to check out the Biscuitville chain ( breakfast and lunch only; about 50 locations ) - those folks know how to make a damn fine FF biscuit.

It must just be my location. I absolutely love KFC's Original Recipe ... although yes, I do agree it's very, very greasy. So when I heard about the new strips, I was on my way there. Ugh ... dry ... dry dry dry. I thought maybe I had a bad batch ... went back a week later ... dry dry dry dry dry. Do you guys still get regular snackers? The KFC down from my work only offers these new "shredded chicken" snackers. It's like chicken from a crockpot ... all shredded and dry. BLECH! I drove BACK up there and took it in and asked them what the HELL they thought this was ... and they told me it was my fault. They said (and they're right) that they asked me if I wanted it plain or with BBQ sauce and I said PLAIN. They said since it's shredded meat, it's obviously supposed to have BBQ sauce on it. WTF? I thought a snacker was ... well, a SNACKER! Not a pulled-chicken sandwich. Have you guys had this or has my location just went totally loco???
