KFC or Bojangles?

OK - which is better and why? I am not a big fried chicken eater (don't hate me) and want to impress the new boyfriend with a pick-up picnic. Which is going to get his juices going????

I prefer Bojangles for the flavor and the size of the pieces but I love KFC's slaw.

Probably something other than the fried chicken.

The key is showing up topless. I always like my fried chicken a lot better when served by a woman who is wearing no shirt. Since you're considering KFC, you might want to also consider wearing heels. It's classier.

Make the chicken yourself! If you're concerned about the logistics of pan-frying, "oven-fried" chicken is another possibility that can be good in its way, and which some think is healthier than pan-fried chicken (though, in my opinion, not nearly as good). FWIW, my husband (from New York) always thought he hated fried chicken until he tasted the chicken I pan-fried according to my (Hoosier) mom's recipe, complete with pan gravy and mashed potatoes. Now he asks me to prepare it often, as a Saturday night treat.

OK - sounds like I need to bring out the frying pan. Any hints for making great fried chicken? How do you get the right crunch, right spices?

We used to have a few Bojangles around Baltimore when I was a kid, but they're long gone now.

    Hello All,
I'd go to Bojangles and Popeyes anytime over KFC. I've
tasted Bojangles and Popeyes in my limited travels, and
    love both places.
There is something about the way KFC prepares the chicken,
perhaps it is too greasy, but it does literally make me ill.
Unfortunately, we have no Bojangles or Popeyes in my area,
so for me it's homemade, church suppers, or Hardees.
    Take Care,

Don't bother with take out food. Look in your fridge and "fake" something. Even PB&Js. Picnics are much more about spontaneity and company that food. A chilled bottle of wine might be a good idea, too.

I once made a picnic lunch for a girlfriend of mine. She was feeling low and didn't want to go out, so we had a picnic in her dorm room. She said it was the best way she had ever been cheered up.

    Hello All,
JT1, your tale of the picnic in your girlfriend's dorm was great.
Not to change the subject, but I did the same sort of thing.
When I was courting my wife, I lived in an apartment that had
    a fireplace. She hates winter, and I met her in the winter;
she was down so I started a fire, placed a huge beach towel
in front of the fire, put on Beach Boy music, dressed like I was at
the beach, and we had a beach party meal in front of the fireplace.
I wish I had bought a bag of sand and put it out, but...
It cheered her up as well.
    Now, back to chicken talk...
    Take Care,

Except, perhaps, for the sodas, every single item on the menu at Bojangle's is better than the corresponding item on the menu at KFC.

Not to throw a wrench in the works but, how about some good SC Q. A bucket of ribs wins me over every time.

Frying your own can be tricky if you've never done it before. try to find a local "down-home" restaurant that does good fried chicken and buy it from them, along with some sides or make your own.

Frying it at home can be tricky --- why not just make some nice sandwiches or subs and take along some apples and cheese and a bottle of wine or some nice sodas?

Bojangles for everything but the biscuits.

    KFC for the biscuits.

But 99% of the time - neither.

I know this is an old thread, but I just had to put in my two cents-worth on this. angeltearsmc recommended KFC's biscuits, and, frankly, I'm shocked by this. KFC has, IMO, the absolute WORST biscuits of any fast food chain, big or small. They are simply abominable; I consider them to be nearly inedible ( so, Bob, do ya like 'em? ) Even the mediocre things that McDonald's and Burger King sell are an improvement over KFC's.

I don't think I've been in a KFC in something like 15 years?  That wouldn't surprise me Bob.  And it was the bomb when I was a kid--I don't know whether the food is different or I just grew up and had better.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned picking up Publix chicken to her.

BoJangles is much better than KFC, The sides are so much better! pinto's, dirty rice, thick cut fries with "cajun" salt.. they sell the "cajun" salt on-line now! The biscuits are so much better than KFC. Bo does a good breakfast too. The local Bo's has a group of retired folks that meet every morning  .
