For all you chocolate fanatics, I now have some katydids for sale. If interested email me with order amount. They are $10 a can from the company. From me they are $9.50 for 1-4 cans and $9 for 5 or more cans. Thanks. Tazcal42@aol.com

I give up. What is there about a katydid that would appeal to people who like chocolates. We have lots of katydids hatching in Ohio this year, but I haven't heard of anyone wanting to pay for them.

Mike, We have them being born by the netful also here in Hoosierland..Perhaps there is a market that we aren't aware of...dipped in chocolate, or brewed as tea, makes no matter to me... I'll run a sample sale on ebay and see if the people really want them.

I've had the Kathryn Beich Katdids and they are really good. Don't they also make a candy that is Golden Crumbles or something like that. Its little golden pillows with peanut butter and a golden candy coating quote:Originally posted by mrtaz42 Kathryn Beich makes a chocolate candy called katydids that consists of chocolate, caramel and pecans.

I just learned about a candy called turtles a couple of months ago.

Never thought about dipping them in chocolate.. Maybe dip their legs in carmel first to make them a little easier to munch on! (too much work to pluck them off)...

I'd skip the caramel and dust them with cocoa sweetened with a little Equal. That should be a big hit with the "low-carb" diet enthusiasts.

Now Turtles I know---the candy ones. The description of the Katydid candy sure sounds like the turtle-shaped chocolate covered pecan/carmel confection. MR Taz 42, are we on target? BTW is the 42 linked to a birth year? If yes then You and I and Grandpy are near the top of the Foodchain on this site. Sundancer's got us by a year and I believe Seafarer John is Older than God. ALSO Welcome to the Roadfood site.

They are similar to the turtles but most would say they taste better. I believe turtles were made after these. And no 42 is not my age of year of birth, just a number i like.

The factory store in Bloomington, Illinois has bags of Beich's candy for super cheap, broken and wonderful (especially the mystery bags.)
