Kayem Old Tyme Natural Casing Franks

Kayem Old Tyme Natural Casing Franks Lately, I find myself buying Kayem Old Tyme Natural Casing Franks more than any other brand. I find them sized right, spiced right and priced right. Of course natural casing is always a plus with me...have to have that snap. Sized right: Six franks per 12 oz package which makes them fit snugly into a standard hot dog roll with plenty of room for toppings. Having more than one does not create guilt. Spiced right: They are mildly spiced, perhaps too mildly spiced for some, but not for me because with this brand I know I am going to have toppings with them and I do not want the dog competing with the toppings. When I invest in quality toppings, I want them to walk the dog rather than the other way around. Priced right: I paid $3.45 for a package yesterday. Mid-range for hot dogs in general, but pretty low priced for a quality natural casing dog. Of course opinions differ about dogs and I would like to hear yours both pro and con about this product. As for me, it meets a happy medium for an everyday reliable dog.

I've had Kayem franks while vacationing in Maine and also once when I brought some home from Connecticut. You gave a good description of them. They are mildly spiced, but not bland. Mild enough to be enjoyed with toppings, but flavorful enough to have with just mustard. The price is good for a quality natural casing dog. Similar in flavor to Mucke's from Connecticut and Deutschmacher from New England.

Its been a while, but Sunday I bought a package of NC. Saugys and I have to say they are wonderful, grilled until well charred.
