Interesting - although the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Corbin, Ky never did change their name to KFC - probably to maintain the historical aspect of it. Now if KFC would just start putting their 11 herbs and spices back in their original recipe like it was 40 years ago there might be some hope !!

Believe it when I see it.

Of course this statement came from YUM brands, etc.

About once every 10 years or so, I'll be in the middle of nowhere, see a KFC and say to myself "ahh, how bad can they be?" So, not trusting my memory, I get my once-per-decade reminder of the answer.

Yep. I agree. BUT, Kentucky Fried Chicken was 'mighty good (IMHO), in the years 1968 and earlier.

They can re-brand the resturant all they want, but that won't change the fact that the chicken is inedible.

I actually like their chicken, original receipe that is. I eat it about once every 2 months. I really like the cole slaw, it is usually my favorite of any slaw. The gravy has definetely declined though.

Good fried chicken can be judged by how it holds up the next day.KFC does not fall in that category.

I like KFC. Some locations are better than others. Those here in Nashville seem to be very poorly run. However, the KFC in my hometown is owned by a local family that is very quality concious and the food has remained consistently good since the mid-70s. Maybe it was better in the 60s but not having been born then I wouldn't know.

What's up all. First time poster, long time reader. To think about KFC going back to Kentucky Fried, you always dance with the lady who brought you, or else you could be without either one and a long walk ahead of ya. And Kentucky Fried is in that realm. They can also thank Hardee's/Carl Jr./?Roy Rogers (are they still around)? for going to the "food-porn" (not Paris Hilton but with extreme calorie intakes). Kentucky Fried just discovered too late that their market was and always will be the chicken eaters not the wrap or salads. Personally I don't like em' but I will never hate on a honest business trying to get a buck and pasify a needy taste bud and stomach.

    Mash em' out Arsenal!

I agree with a lot of the posters, for me, Popeye's chicken is hands down better than Kentucky Fried. But, once every month or two, the Colonel's "strips" make a tasty enough lunch. The gravy? Ughh - better use it as rear end oil in your car than eat it!

I would run through lexington, grab some que, get some decent rolls at the store, and a pint of kfc slaw...throw on the hot sauce of your choice...good stuff. I think their slaw goes well with que because it has a nice onion flavor. (didn't like lexington slaw..especially on a sandwich).

I saw a post here recently about a restaurant in KY that serves original kfc type chicken? Need to find that post and pay that place a vist in the next couple of weeks.

I believe that would be Claudia Sanders which is one of the Mayors favorite places. I have been there several times.

Once upon a time, we liked KFC but stopped buying it when we experienced several times of finding it not cooked to the bone. Nothing less appetizing than raw poultry. We stopped buying any and all fried chicken there for awhile. Then I found Lee's and that was pretty good, but they left the area. Now we find that Kroger makes a very good fried chicken and we always try to get it as early as possible on the day they fry it.

Nothing like Mom's but I never could get mine to turn out like hers so have had to rely on the professionals, with our fingers crossed.

It seems that every time a great francise gets bought out it becomes a good francise,or worse. KFC and Burger King were very good when there wasn't one every block. Along Northern Blvd. in Long Island, you had (in the 60's) a KFC, White Castle, a Wetson's, and a Burger King, along w/ a Howard Johnson. (no McDonald's). Each and every one of them was good. W/ 500 stores getting the same food they all are inedible today. I'm glad KFC is going back to the basics, lets see. Some of the Best Fast Chicken I've ever had has been at a Red Barn, a long gone Francise. They had a special cooking machine for thr chicken, very tasty.

I like a big bucket of KFC every once in a while. . . extra crispy please. I used to like original, but haven't eaten it since ex. crispy came out.
I don't get where you folks say it's "inedible." It's not g'ma's homemade, but it has it's appeal.
But then, I'm not a food snob. . . well yea, sometimes I am.

Lucky for me I dont have to settle for KFC here. Plenty of places that are locally owned that have great broasted or fried chicken. Copps foods is one. A lot of the supper clubs are happy to sell it in buckets.

I just spent a week in Kentucky, driving through Louisville, Lexington, Bardstown, Harrodsburg, Perryville, and Springfield. We only saw one KFC restaurant during the entire trip. I had pre-conceived images that the state would be littered with KFC's all over the place. We saw more golden arches and Subways. Interestingly, one of the hotels we stayed at was right next door to the KFC headquarters. Not a single KFC in sight. In fact, it faced directly into a Bob Evans!

On a side note, we ate at a KFC in Tokyo a few years ago and the chicken pot pie was delicious! Flaky crust, creamy sauce inside, very good. Came back to the US and every KFC pot pie I've tried since have been soggy and dry. Some franchises do better.
