I once put ketchup and onions on a hot dog. My brother in law promptly informed me that this was "barbaric." Which, of course, ensured that I would eat them that way for the rest of my life, especially in front of him. However, I now prefer them with mustard and onion. But the truth is, I rarely eat them at all anyway.

Personally I prefer the original CSD. In my opinon that is the best. It does not have tomato ketchup. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I love hot dogs! Several ways: At the ballpark - mustard, onions and relish. At Home - Catshup, Mayo, Flo's Hot Dog sauce. Sometimes: Chili, onions and cheese. That's the beauty of the dog!

Vienna Beef sent me a new poster last week. It's a picture of a fully dressed Vienna Beef hot dog nestled in a poppy seed bun. The poster reads: THIS DOG IS RATED: NK-17 (NO KETCHUP UNLESS UNDER THE AGE OF 17) PARENTAL ADVISORY NO KETCHUP

No ketchup at Costco, only onions, relish, two types of mustard and kraut on request.

I'm in a "mixed marriage" -- my wife loves ketchup on her hot dogs, and she's sending our daughter down the same evil path (well, she's 3, so hopefully she'll grow out of it). Of course, it annoys my wife that, when I'm ordering at the counter while she grabs a table, I refuse to order hers with ketchup. I'll bring her the little cups for fry-dipping and let her do her own dirty work ;)

Tell ya's what; we, the people that know that ketchup is the greatest thing in the world to put on your great quality hot dog, are superior to you, the people that have some kind of weird syndrome where they are affected by what other people have on their hot dogs. Ketchup rules! Ketchup is WAY BETTER THAN ALL THE OTHER CRAP YOU PEOPLE WITH THE SYNDROME USE. I think it should be illegal to operate a business without ketchup being abundantly available. I think that people who insult ketchup should be arrested and thrown in jail. KETCHUP! CATSUP! KETCHUP! CATSUP! KETCHUP! CATSUP! KETCHUP! CATSUP! KETCHUP! CATSUP! KETCHUP! IT'S THE BEST! THE BEST ON DOGS! INTELLIGENT PEOPLE PUT KETCHUP ON THEIR DOGS! LOADS OF KETCHUP!!!! Thankyou. Thankyou very much. Ya'll had this coming.

Ketchup and mustard for me.....the combo makes even the weakest vanila mush dog taste great. I grew up in the mid-west where we didn't have so much of that mustard only hamg up, like they do on the east coast.

I couldn't care less what "other's" put on their Dogs.. Hell...When I lived in Seattle, people used to put Mayo on their extremely poor quality Hot Dogs...I didn't eat Hot Dogs anyway while I was living there because they were NASTY However depending on where I'm visiting, I'll usually dress the Dog with what is REGIONALLY APPROPRIATE

Then I cover the top of the baked beans with ketchup, eat and dip the dogs into tyhe bean-ketchup mix. Sometimes some chopped onions on top of the whole mix! At Fenway park? Mustard and onions only, ball-park dog all the way!

In Fairmont, WV there is a local favorite stand called Yann's hot dogs. It is basically a shack. The first thing you see upon entrance is a sign that says "We reserve the right to refuse anyone service at any time". That basically means, don't ask for ketchup, we don't have it, and you'll get kicked out. He's basically the hot dog Nazi.

I don't get the snobbery against ketchup. What a strange trend. How odd that anyone would be so enraged by another person's condiment of choice.

Yeah, like I said, there are places here where they don't even have ketchup available for hot dogs. I've eaten there before but I really don't think it's that fun ordering from a hot dog Nazi, especially since when I DO eat a hot dog, I usually want cheese sauce and ketchup on it :D But it's SICK when people order WV dogs with ketchup....coleslaw and ketchup is kinda wrong, but whatever floats their boat.

Judging from the above photograph, I wouldn't ever buy a West Virginia dog; they look like they're composed of some sort of chopped and formed chicken product. Man, I'd need a half a cup of ketchup per dog!

Porce, you don't get the snobbery? Hang around and you will see all kinds of weird food phobias. Oh wait, you think it's "SICK" when people order WV hot dogs w/ ketchup??? You fit right in here at Roadfood! Joe

Oh, but it is pretty far from that. The difference is BBQ sauce tastes good with cole slaw, and ketchup tastes sick with it! I'm not really one to talk since I am a ketchup lover, but personally the ketchup/coleslaw combo is enough to make me gag a little.
