My mom makes prok cabbage rolls with tomatoey sauce. I think it has more to do with mixing the cole slaw dressing with ketchup and eating really ketchupy slaw on a dog...uggh..

Good question Jim! Porce, Joe didn't say anything about kraut. He may not even like a bun? Maybe just a naked dog? I eat skinless Nathan's dogs cooked in Shiner Bock beer, naked. Not me, the dogs! They just taste great right outa the pot and chased with a little more Shiner. It's a Texas meets New York kinda thing. Joe

Chili & onion and I'm good to go. Or fried onions and peppers. Don't like kraut either. Must be my Italian upbringing.

PapaJoe, I see your from Texas. I am trying to get my daughter to stay in JoePa's state for college but it looks like PapaJoe's state may win out. I will be taking her to Texas A&M at the end of the month. When I asked her why A&M she said "Dad, its on an island" Who could argue with that?

lol...the plain hot dog with sauerkraut thing was more of my personal nightmare of a hotdog than a reference to anything. When I worked at my fiance's hotdog place for a couple months, the only people who ate plain weiners with no bun or anything were being transported in strollers :D

Porce, I saw that on CNN last week. Eating hot dogs plain w/ no bun can lead to the condetion you discribed. If only they had used a bun with even ketchup! Saurkraut... I like mustard, onion, jalapenos, and saurkraut on my chili dog. And w/ a bag of Fritos on the side. Joe, you had beter brush up on your Aggie jokes! It's a good school though. It has it's own beach and... it's good fishing around Corpus! Joe

I've only been to Texas 3 times, but I know the only thing better than Texas are Texans. I have 1 daughter at U of Pitt and 1 daughter at U of Central Florida. Being a Penn State fan, this is hard to handle.

There is only one worthy condiment for a dog and it is much neglected. I have not seen this condiment mentioned once in this thread, but it is the very best topping for any kind of dog. Forget ketchup, kraut, mustard and especially the mess they call hot dog relish...it should be banned. So what is this miracle condiment? Corn relish, of course. This is what is known as the pinnacle of hot dog perfection. Everything else pales by comparison with the possible exception of chili, but that's a different thing altogether...chili is not a condiment.

Joe, sounds like you will soon also be an aggie fan! You will have a great time visiting that area. I love the Bob Hall Pier at N. Padre. It's just around the corner. And, no one would dare put ketchup on their hot dog anywhere near there! Joe

Oh, Michael, there is an A&M campus in Corpus. It realy is on an island and has it's own beach. What a way to go to school! And I was stuck in landlocked Austin, shoot! One of my grandzilla loves corn in his chili. I fix him a bowl of corn so he can add all he wants. Hmmm, corn on a chili dog %&*( Joe

Here in NYC putting ketchup on a dog is viewed as sacrilege by many. I remember a humorous episode when in line at Katz' deli a few years back, a tourist asked for ketchup on his dog and the counter server freaked out, telling him that if he wanted to ruin the dog he would have to do it himself. I laughed along with the customer in front of me. The latter stopped laughing when he got the same treatment for asking for mayo on his dog!

I believe that is tomato sauce, Porcelina. Here's another one. It has tomato sauce, onions, peas, corn, potato sticks (not chips), mashed potatoes, and somewhere in there, a hot dog. I think someone forgot to translate the Hot Dog Rulebook into Portugeuse.
