While popular, this thread is getting rather infantile. I understand Roadfood is the go to site for all hot dog lovers, but really 8 pages of ketchup or not? What more can be said about the topic? Yes, you like it; no you don't or you come up with something altogether different. There isn't much room for anything more. How much more can be said that is on topic? In my humble opinion, it is time to put a bullet into this thread, maybe two or three to make sure it is dead.

Two of my grandaughters will not eat a dog because of the stuff they heard was in them. I bought some turkey dogs but they wont eat those ether. Weird but they both have a favotite snack... pre cooked Johnsonville Bratts, nuked for 1 min., and wraped in a flour tortilla that was nuked for 20 sec., no ketchup, no mustard. My other zillas, that will eat hot dogs, like what I call "PapaJoe's gourmet hot dogs". A John's jumbo dog, on lightly toasted bread, with dill relish, and yellow mustard. Hey, they are not bad. Joe

I like this thread! It has evolved, like many threads here, into different areas, and I have learned a few things. And I gave out my secret about a good, but cheep, brand of hot dog. Like Dirty Harry once said... like Rosana Rosanadana once said "oh, nevermind" Joe

Thanks for getin my back Jim! :~) Because of this thread, like I said earlier, a whole new "hot dog world" has opened up for me! No more plain old Board Heads with mustard. Oh, I forgot. I was already an adventurious hot dog eater! I forgot about the Nathens skinless cooked in Shiner Back beer... and eaten plain, no mustard, no ketchup, no bun. Joe

I Think what this thread is really about is friendly, polite conversation. The chance to have some light-hearted banter with other RoadFood lovers. Besides " Ketchup on a hot dog" I got a good recommendation from Papajoe for good eats in Corpus Christi. Laughed my butt off at Maimidon's pictures etc. I believe in setting a big table and letting everyone sit down and enjoy themselves. So I would ask that you look beyond the subject of the thread and let everyone get acquainted with the RoadFood forums in a way they feel comfortable. And as for the subject, its not a question of ketchup or no ketchup. I dislike ketchup and am always looking for something new to try. Joe

Ok, the discussion of what do do, if you think a thread is silly, now has a home in the "Off Topic and Lighter Fare section". My earlier idea for mixing pickled jalapeno juice w/ mayo is a winner! Now I am trying to grasp all of the possibilities, other than on a cheep dog w/ ketchup, this new, to me anyway, recipe invention may have vast applications! It could out do my PawPaw's invention of frito Chili pie? Or maybe even Joe Jeller's invention of the Tator Tot! Or even Shanghai Jimmy's idea for his ohhhh so nice Chili Rice! My insperation came from this thread. Thanks Lee! Joe

The only way I like Ketchup on a Hot Dog is this topping: 1 cup Store Brand Ketchup 1 Cup Miracle Whip 2 Tablespoons Old Bay 1/2 Cup Chopped Bay Corn 3 anchovies chopped fine 1 diced cucumber with seeds 1 can Kidney Beans Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl. Cook a dozen or so Bar-S Chicken or Turkey Franks (Tofu dogs work well also) in the Microwave on High for 10 minutes until they bust and look like old Slim Jims. Top with alot of the above sauce. Its to die for! Every time I make these my guests just cant get enough of them. Even Dirty Harry likes them this way...Russ

LOLOL Russ! Now that's a great sounding dog sauce recipe! And... it could have many more uses! It's the subtle blend of Old Bay, Bay Corn, anchovies, and the cucumber... with seeds, that I think is pure genious! Joe

GG's Rule: "Never top a low end product with another low end product that cannot be improved." Did you ever wonder why there are no high end ketchups but high end mustards abound? This and other mysteries of the culinary universe are explained here: http://www.gladwell.com/2004/2004_09_06_a_ketchup.html Please excuse me while I reload.

But don't worry, I'm looking to get this all straightened out. You see, I'm the focus of the bullying going on, and I am going to fix it good, you'll see. I'm already in contact with the top people on this site. It's really only two people making the problem. Hang in there! (one of them's already been a problem on another site, I have it documented.) I was merely joking but carry on if you must.
