Kids' Meal??? Wed, 03/9/11 8:49 AM (permalink)
Anyone offering a Kid's Meal out of their trailer or cart. We have several kid friendly / family type festivals we are doing this year. Since we are adding a tropical type sandwich to our menu we are thinking about doing a kid's meal. Maybe a grilled cheese sandwich, cookie and a juice box???

We will be having a smaller kids ice cream cone which will be crazy colored vanilla. 10% butterfat vs 14% of the other flavors. We will also have chicken tenders which all kids love.

If you're doing a cuban sandwich, have you considered buying a few bags of medianoche rolls and do them the same on the press as the sandwiches? Ideal for smaller mouths and appetities. I've added a number of lunch items to our supper menu for those with smaller appetites and not necessarly kids. We've got quite a few older folks that just don't want a full meal. The press will give you some flexibility here. I've found it useful to do very fast and easy quesadillas and hot wraps. The smaller sized 10" wraps can be great for small sized portions.
        Edit:
I should also mention that we did try a plastic wrapped tray a few years ago with a juice box,a piece of fruit or packaged snack, and a half of cold wrap (12") cut in half of the red or green colored for the kid's lunches when we needed a grab and go. The idea works and can be prepared in advance. The parents really liked it for the grade schoolers, but the paper costs, stable supply of colored wraps, and packaged goods drove up the costs and the fruit usually went to waste. If this was for profit, it would have flown very well.

Thanks for the info. We have decided to make up a sandwich with ham, cream cheese and pineapples grilled between two slices of sourdough bread. We would only have to add some type of American cheese to do a kids meal. We just got our press last weekend and have not really cooked with it. Our daughter is going to home from school this week and we plan on using her to test different food items from the press.
