Kids of the Seventies.... What do you still have from your youth?

I bought this Schwinn Stingray Fairlady yesterday.  Why?  I don't know, but I had to.

Maybe because I'd always wanted one?

Not only do I still have these, but the next generation of kids still plays with them.

I do have to admit, I hate playing Battleship manually. WAY easier to play on a computer.

Very cool!  I just took a picture of a planter I have that was given to my mother when I was born.  I won't part with it.

I still have my Winnie The Pooh stuffed bear I got when I was 4 (1975). I had renamed him Amos at the time though.

...er, I was a kid of the 50s and I am still PO'd that I did not save my baseball cards including Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays rookie cards among many other great ones. I still have many of my 45s but a cousin pilfered my collection of Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley leaving me with Tab Hunter and Red Sails in the Sunset. :D

I probably still have a lot of ordinary stuff but as far as things culturally linked to the '70s go, my beer can collection is the most noteworthy as I acquired the majority of them from 1974 until 1980.

You might say the movie, The Graduate in 1967 ushered in and introduced the era of plastics. Our kids were born in 1968, 1969 and 1971. So what I remember about the 70s was my kids' all plastic Big Wheels. They could be off in a flash and have to be chased down a couple of blocks away to catch them as soon as a 2 year old could reach and turn the pedals. Our neighbors hated the rumbling up and down the sidewalk of not only our horde but also the other kids on the block.

I'm also a child of the 50's.  I still have my monogrammed drop letter pendant, which was all the rage when I was in high school.
Davydd- Years ago my brother was so annoyed with me when I showed my niece how to make shoes out of two empty coke cans and she went happily clanking down the street probably disturbing all the neigbors.

Six of my Eight Kids and both of Janet's children were born in the decade of the 1970's.  I was too damn busy working two jobs in education to pay a whole lot of attention to the world as it functioned during those years.

What do I have remaining with me reminding me of the "70"'s ??

Several recordings by K C & the Sunshine Band, doing "Keep It Coming , Love " !!
     My M.S.Ed.  and Ed.S. dated 1972 and 1974.
     My first ROADFOOD Book (1978).

I have complete sets of Topps baseball cards from 76 -79. Got them the hard way by buying packs at the store and trading. Of course there was very few if any rookies worth anything in those years. Even if there were, I abused the cards too much to be worth much of anything to anyone but me.

    cementhead,

Buying packs individually was the only way you could collect baseball cards in the 50s. They didn't sell whole sets. You were at least spared getting Don Lund, reserve player for the Detroit Tigers, .240 ilfetime hitter, in every dang pack of cards.

OK, this can probably be found easily enough on the Internet, but:
I was born in the United States, of parents who were American citizens. I am male. I lived outside the country for a couple of years when I was 10-11, but otherwise always lived in the United States. I am not retired. I never registered for the draft, and broke no laws in my failure to do so.

    How old am I?

I'm heading to Pa. Saturday morning to pick up two 1972 Suzuki Trailhopper Mini Bikes.....one is a runner the other a parts bike. My very first motorcycle at the age of 8 was a blue Trailhopper, and the runner is a blue one.

My Old Man and my Pap split the cost ($100) and bought it for me from a neighbor....and the rest as they say is history, been riding eversince. My plan is to restore the blue one back to factory condition in honor of the Old Man, cancer took him from me in 2007. Before he died we spoke about that old mini bike and how it gave me a love for riding.

I also have all of my vinyl from the 70's and 80's....last count was over 450 albums in the collection.....

    mar52 You are 55.
    Or 54.

    Got it.

I turned 18 one week after draft registration ended. I had one hell of a time when Chip Ford, about 3 weeks my elder, got into trouble when Gerald Ford was President for failure to register for the draft. My parents insisted that I register for the draft, and I had a hell of a time convincing them that the draft board wouldn't let me.
