King Fish in Louisville, Ky.

Many years ago I found King Fish, and at the time, it was great, but now they closed the downtown shop, but have the one on the river, and a few others. In the past few years, I think they are going down hill, what do you think? Are there others in that area, that are better? Who are they, and where are they?

I have to agree about KingFish. It has dropped in quality and quantity in the last 3 or 4 years. The store on the Indiana side "on the river" is nice, but the food is almost Long John Silver Quality.

Check Robin Garr's Louisville reviews for Seafood. There are some pretty good places.

We've done Mike Lennings a couple of times...Once good, Once not so good. It is on the list for a third try sometime soon.

A coincidence or what,I mentioned Lennings/lennigs,and the next day a review by Jane & Michael!

I've got to go get me a Seafood plate asap.

I remember when the seafood plate was 8.50.

Did you get there at 4:00am in the morning? (Your last post time!!

I like their fish. I can pass on the dancing frog Leg's, but the Scallops are Great.

We were disappointed at the staff hanging around using their cell-phones etc while there were a BUNCH of tables that needed cleaning. It was a busy time and the crew needed to get busy, but seemed unconcerned.

I've never had a bad meal at the King Fish --- I grew up eating there and continue to enjoy it. I too miss the one that was located near the Galt House, but enjoy the one across the river and the one on Blankenbaker. Fried oysters and onion rings --- YUM!
I too will pass on the frog legs at any establishment --- I'm sure they're good but well I just cannot stand the idea of "frog legs".

I grew up in Lousiville. The only memories I have of King Fish, besides the cool cartoon king in their TV commericals, is the fires. The one by me on Dixie Hwy must have caught fire at least once a year. Is the one by Showcase cinemas still open?

    Pumbaa,

According to the latest data I see on the Louisville KingFish Restaurants there are still four in operation. Reading the reviews posted about them seems to reinforce the comments about the downhill slide of the place(s) compared to what they were 10 years ago.

BTW, Some bad News for you. The Showcase Cinema's have shut down.

I recall eating at the Kingfish in Louisville about 25 years ago and it was very good then. Too bad it has gone downhill.

It seems that very few restaurants can survive the long run.

My sister and I took our grandma to King Fish on the Indiana side of the river over the weekend, just after catching an IMAX at the Science Center.

I'd never been before, but I thought it was very good. I had the Seafood Feast: Tilapia, a catfish strip, fried shrimp and clam strips. All of it was tasty and they gave me so much I couldn't finish it all. My sister and grandma were happy with their meals too. And our table had a wonderful view of the river and downtown Louisville.

Sorry to hear people think it's going downhill. I'd definitely go back.

Thanks, Improvisor, It is Nice to read good things about Kingfish. When we go down to that bunch of restaurants along the Indiana bank of the Ohio, it is normally to get to Rocky's Italian Grill...two places west of Kingfish.
If it weren't for the limited parking along that 'strip' it would a really great place to go for dinner any evening.

The last time we went to the Kingfish it was still very good and the prices were very reasonable for what we got.
