As a former resident of Kobe, I can attest to the articles claims. I've had a couple of meals of this "faux-be" beef and Wagyu at a couple of different places. It wasn't even remotely like Kobe beef from Japan. It might have been a prime cut (doubtful, though), but it lacked in every area that makes Kobe beef what it is. Don't buy the hype and laugh off these imitators. Don't waste your money.

On a similar note, there are any number of websites and grocery stores offering Prociutto de Parma. I doubt that it is the real thing. Spanish and Italian cured hams are one of the most stringently controlled export items and if you go to this website and buy a leg of Jamon Serrano, you've been had.

I don't know where you've been getting your Prociutto di Parma, but where I get mine it comes with the DOP (Protected Designation of Origin).

A Waygu Filet at "Cut", Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, is $22.00 an ounce.

They may feed their beef beer and give them massages and pipe them classical music which I doubt if the cattle gives a rats a___ and quite frankly, I cannot afford that quality or hype.  I am sure that it a better type of beef but my personal thoughts are it is a beauty contest of beef.  I have a friend that I worked with for 43 years and he raises limosine cattle.  He has about 500 head raised on the bottom land of the Clinch cold river and the grass is always green and the cattle fat.  He has shared many of his prized steaks and there may not be the same but if they got any better, I could not stand it.
