One of my absolute, all-time favorites. I'm sure it was just a vat-full of chemicals, but man, to me it tasted like a crushed-up Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. I ate it by the spoonful. My best friend thought it was horrible, and couldn't believe I liked it. I guess much of the world agreed with him, because it didn't stay around for very long. Oh, well. I guess I can still swirl some peanut butter into Nutella.

That's so funny - I was just thinking about this stuff the other day. I asked my husband if he remembered it but he didn't. "Koo-koo-koogle with the koo-koo-koogly eyes!" That big furry monster that was their mascot. Do you remember all the flavors? Obviously there was chocolate, and I seem to remember banana, but I believe there were at least 4 flavors and I can't remember the others. I want to say cinnamon, but maybe I'm thinking of the flavored peanut butter that came out a couple years back (Jif or Skippy, can't remember which).

My former mother-in-law pronounced Kugel like that and I gritted my teeth every time. My family always pronounced it "Kiggle", and I would never pronounce it any other way! I've also heard it pronounced "Keegle". YIKES! I also never noticed the subject of this thread if it was on a store shelf, because I, snobbola that I am, detest the idea of mixing peanut butter with chocolate. *shudder*. But that's just me.

Ha, looked at the heading and thought the same thing, a funny spelling of kugel. I never heard of Koogle until now. And thanks to Roadfood, I will not have to Google Koogle. [sorry]

That's bizarre, but nothing on the internet surprises me anymore. Well, at least it didn't redirect you to a "forbidden" site! Oh, gosh, it happened to me too. Now that's odd!!

Yeah, I remember Koogle - early '70s era. It was one of those things Mom would never buy but Grampa would occasionally, on a periodic shopping spree for forbidden foods : sweet cereal, chocolate milk, marshmallow fluff, etc.... Funny thing, though, I grew up with that AND noodle kugel - but never made the connection between the two till I saw the title of this thread.

JVSMOM- thanks for the jingle - I remember it well!! - and also for the visual description....I vaguely recall the character looking somewhat big and clumsy, moving about rather like the Koolaid pitcher..... I seem to recall banana flavor the most, as well as chocolate?

Hey, I just made a post about this stuff on the "favorite peanut butter" forum. I was actually beginning to believe that I made this Koogle stuff up in my head b/c no one else I ever asked about it remembers! This site is the best. Koogle, by the way, was delicious. I wish I could find some. Although it probably would have gone bad by now... Spudnut's idea about putting some peanut butter (and/or chocolate) into Nutella sounds like it would be tasty. I must try that.
