As a police officer, I recall that Kystal cheeseburgers, were the choice of most all late-night DUI suspects. A hammered driver, with a bag of 10 Kyrstals was very, very common. Likely because they are open 24/7 with the drive-thru...but damn, they ae just plain tasty drunk or not, when they are right off the grill!

I used to love Royal Castle. The last one I saw was in Ohio on Ohio 36-37 at Interstate 71 about 20 miles north of Columbus. It's been gone for close to 20 years.

I faintly remember RC burgers from about 1959-60 or so down in Orlando, FL. My father was, at that time, at McCoy AFB in SAC. I remember they were good. 'Course, a 5 yr. old will eat about anything...

I'm not sure but I think I ate Krystals once when I was stone-cold sober, a horrifying experience. On the other hand, after a session at a sports bar, they ain't all that bad

Got my Krystal "fix" a couple of weeks ago when I went home to East Tennessee for a visit. My sons and grandson picked me up at McGhee Tyson airport and we stopped at the Krystal at the 398 exit on I40. Bought two dozen "gut bombs" and enjoyed them on the way to Morristown.

Had a B.A. double the other day. Quite good for a FF burger, I might add. The grape tomatoes were a nice added touch.

Adjudicator, of interest to you: both Krystal locations in
Panama City (23rd St., Callaway) closed down a few months ago
without any explanation as to why, but the franchisee may have
                        had financial problems....

Anyone remember the Krystal King? It was a double decker like the Big Mac/ Big Boy, with two thin patties and being of regular size. Drenched with secret sauce. Back in the mid seventies.

As someone mentioned, it is a shame that the Cherry Street Krystal, isn't some sort of tourist attraction. A bag of cheese Krystals (cheese and x-tra onions!), an RC Cola, and a Moon Pie might be the ultimate southern junk-out. Oh...don't forget the boiled peanuts.

Cherry St. Krystal(?) Atlanta(?) Too bad they (Krystal) can't afford
fresh onions (Vidallia, YES). Whatever. I get my Krystal's same as U mentioned; however I insist that they pull patties directly off grill (this doesn't werk with drive-thru; go inside for best service.) French Fries? While Krystal seems to have a pretty FRESH product, I order FF's in other FFR's without salt. An old trick. They have to cook you an order of same (fresh). I always freak 'em out when I get 3-4 salt packets on the way out the door.

I would assume the reference is to the "original" Krystal on Cherry Street in Chattanooga.

To bad the Washington/Baltimore area is still in the slider/greaser gap with neither a White Castle nor (preferably) Krystal.

                                          LOL,

Paul, you and Buckshot brought back some memories!

I haven't thought of the Blue Circle in at least 35 years. My dad used to treat me to BC hamburger and fries when I was a kid. We would go to the wood veneer manufacturer in Knoxville to get throw away slabs of mahogany, black walnut, cherry, birds eye maple etc. and dad would make the most beautiful furniture from it. On the way home, dad would always stop by the BC as a reward for me not getting crushed/killed/maimed by the heavy equipment

                                          Scottie's Burgers:
All the Scottie's Burgers and Scottish Inns buildings were pre-fab'ed in Kingston, TN. There was a Scottie's just across Hwy 27 from our High School. We would sneak over there and get what we called "Gut Bombs", the little 14c hamburgers. My parents gave me 75 cents a day when I was in High School. I had to eat, buy gas, and cigarettes with that amount. Cigs cost 40c a pack, gut bomb was 15c with tax, that left 20c for gas. I coasted a lot.

Krystals give me such terrible indigestion I just cant eat them. I love 'em though.

I just bought a box of Krystal Hamburgers at Dollar General. I have been buying frozen White Castles at the supermarket.

At Dollar General (Store)???? IMHO, if one cannot partake of visiting a Kyrstals or a WC in PERSON; the frozen sh__ does not even begin to make up the difference... No offense intended, BTW.

Really? Don't THINK so. Can't get cooked to order via frozen food(s).

Having never eaten at either place I don't know how frozen compares to the real deal. I do know White Castle frozen are better than Krystal frozen.

Ahhh Krystal - haven't had one in at least a year. They were the staple food in college.

I grew up in miami Fla & we had royal castle. It had an orange logo.
we used to stop on the way to the beach and my dad would get a box of them little suckers. And the birch beer was a must with the burgers. i remember back in the early 70s they rolled the price back to a nickel a hamburger, man did we load up! Three was about how many I would eat at one time.
i miss them so much, ( live in Az now ) I make a version of my own.
I'm sure mine has much less fat in it, but just dice some white onion really fine and make your burgers thin & small. Then steam the burger on top of the pile of onions. Get some hot dog buns and cut them to make your burger buns. then 3 pickles, ketchup and mustard and you got it. it's not the same but damn close.
                                                          Bon appetite

There was a burger place across the street from our motel on Collins Ave. called Royal Castle. We use to walk over for lunch and get a sack of sliders and spuds and bring'em back to the room and pig out. They were really good. Anyone ever eat at Royal Castle??
