LUM'S Beer steamed

I know this has had to be a topic before, but I am relativly new here, only a few months, and loving it!.. But remember Lum's?.. We used to go there after high school back in the early 70's and get huge order of fries and a hot dog with sauerkraut.. I remember they had good kraut!.... For some reason, the memory that stands out most in my mind is the day that I moved the bottle of tabasco and then wiped my eye not knowing there was microscopic trails of the hot stuff on the bottle.. Ouch... That hurt!

You are right. There is at least one other thread on Lum's, a lengthy one if I recall. You can search for it. I think the bottom line is there is one still open in southern Florida.

I used to stop at Lum's in Miami for hotdogs steamed in beer in the mid 1950s. Of course, that was the only Lum's in existence at the time.

Well, when I ate -- and drank draft beer -- at the Lum's in Miami it was just a Mom and Pop place -- without a Mom, of course. The chain didn't come along till years later.

I recall a Lums in Gatlinburg, TN where they had great hot dogs steamed in beer. They were really good. I guess that the concept did not grow. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN
