Lawsuit Against Roadfood & Buffebuster?

Currently under consideration is a lawsuit against Roadfood and Buffetbuster. On Tuesday, while vacationing pleasantly from this website, I took a friend to Urbana for some Roadfood burgers at Crabill's -- a place I'd never heard of before Roadfood. Yes, the burgers were as good as always (How do they cook those things in deep grease yet never get any grease on the buns?), and the Stewart's root beer was wonderfully refreshing.

I then took the long way back to Gahanna, heading south to Springfield and then along U.S. 40 so I could stop at Henry's in West Jefferson in order for my friend to sample the pie (and this part is where Buffetbuster comes in, obviously -- PIE). My friend tried the banana and proclaimed it magnificent, and then would have ordered a slice of the lemon, but was too full from Crabill's.

We then proceeded east on U.S. 40 and into Columbus. And then it began to rain. When it rains in Columbus drivers seem to have difficulty getting around on the resulting oily streets. On West Broad Street (U.S. 40) about ten blocks from downtown we stopped for a traffic light behind a van. While sitting there minding our own business waiting for the light to change a young couple in a van coming up behind us couldn't stop (bad brakes, he said afterwards) and slammed into the rear bumper of my Tucson (a Hyundai, according to a shady character calling himself DocChuck, is a piece of junk that one parks outside one's rundown shack, even if that "shack" is owned by the occupier and not rented in the manner of a small apartment lived in by DocChuck), driving us into the rear of the van stopped ahead of us.

Because the rain and slick streets had resulted in a ton of similar accidents all over  the city we were were advised to exchange information and take off.

I got the call from the body shop yesterday, telling me what the insurance company of the driver of the van that hit us had approved for me, in addition to the rental car, of course, and any possible medical bills should there be any: $6,300 for repairs of my "piece of junk" with 27,240 miles on it. Oh, and it'll be at least two weeks before I get it back. ( I have decided that I do not care a whole lot for 2010 Chevrolet Impalas, even if I don't have to pay to drive them.)

So, I am considering suing Roadfood for sending me to Crabill's and Buffetbuster for causing my friend to want some of that damned pie.

I saw a commercial for a lawyer who says if I don't win he gets nothing.

What a warm wonderful return, Mr Hoffman. Do you mind if I add my current 'stiff neck' medical treatments to your list...We could make this a class-action suit. My stiff-neck was the result of tossing my head back laughing about BB's deliberate leading of your friend to the Pie-Place just to get the accident 'scene' set up just right.

BTW Is White Cross Hospital still in business in Columbus. My last (and only) visit to that institution was in August of 1942, when the medical staff handed me to two people I had never seen before in my life and sent me home without so much as a change of linens. If they are still around, Let's include them in the suit, for failure to follow-up on me for 68 years.

Michael, I do hope you got thru this without injury. Old geezers tend to get more aches than others when this sort of accident occurs. Hope you're ok.

    Michael's an Old Geezer?

At what year does that occur?

Michael hasn't been back so maybe he's taken the rental to the attorney's office.

How do you drive defensively against people behind you?

    1. Yes, He is !

    2. If you voted for (or against) Goldwater or Ike, or even Dewey, you qualify !

    3. Rental probably ran out of BP gas, and he is waiting for them to reclaim more from the Gulf tarballs to fill it up.

    4. You leave a longer than normal distance between you and the guy in front of you, when you are stopped, so that when the guy behind you hits you, you have room to 'not-hit' the guy in front, and prevent sandwiching... very few folks do that most of the time. ( I don't do it very often.)

Mr. Mayor, I'm not hurting. And White Cross Hospital has been Riverside Methodist Hospital since 1961.

Oh, and because it was raining I was stopped a good car-length behind the van stopped in front of me.

No, he's not. Old, perhaps, but I leave geezerhood to people like Al.

I haven't been able to get any internet at my house for the last few days.  After a busy day of running around, cousin Johnny, who had been visiting me, brings up this site on his Droid phone.  When he told me the name of this thread, I was ready to pee my pants.  With a bad connection, he couldn't bring up the thread for a good ten minutes or so.  Once I saw it was started by Michael Hoffman, I felt better immediately, but during the interim, my heart was pounding.

    Michael-
I'm glad you weren't injured and that your friend enjoyed the pie at Henry's.  But after this, maybe it is time to switch to cake!

Geezers are a special group----old in body, but wise beyond their years.
Michael qualifies even if he refuses to admit it.

Now--- Old Buzzards are something else again---they kinda hang around just looking for some carrion.  Can not comment further.

An Old Fart is the guy ahead of you in the left lane doing 25 mph with his blinker on for 22 miles while listening to Guy Lombardo.  Could possibly be Seafarer John.

When one is described as "Ancient" he probably all of the above.

I've just eaten more pies than I should because of that damn buffetbuster's influence. He ought to be sued. Either that or the United States Department of Health ought to investigate him.

I'm going to sue BB for writing interesting trip reports that waste time and create longing for good pie that i can only fulfill by going to the BiPartisan cafe or Random Order Coffeehouse here in Portland.

Sheesch, The Puns keep coming.. BB is going to be investigated by the CONSUMER Protection Agency ??? Who is the MOST ACTIVE consumer emeritus on this Website???  ...BB !! I guess he will investigate himself!!!!

Since BB prefers sitting on the stools at the marble counter rather than a table, A "Counter-Suit" would be the appropriate action for him!!!
