Least favorite Fish?

Me, anything that tastes fishy or has to be soaked in milk in order to be edible, and very boney fish. Channel Catfish, Whitefish, others I can't think of. What is your no way fish?

I've never tasted a fresh, or carefully frozen fish I didn't like.  I try to avoid tilapia because it is bad for one's health.

Tilapia! The "white bread of fish". Totally empty calories!
I pretty much feel the same about catfish too but, I can't resist corn meal crusted fried catfish filets. As a matter of fact, it what's for dinner tonight!

Not quite fish but in the "Swimming" Category. Squid, Octopus and similar Creatures.
Tilapia should not even be categorized as fish. It's just Mush. Good for catfood only ( If you don't like Cats).

I don't like salmon or tuna unless they come from a can. I'm sure that's another one of those "what you grew up with" things. I really like the canned versions, but not fresh.

Caught my first, (And last) Bluefish in the "Rip & the Race" off LI, NY. Took it home, baked it, took one bite and threw the rest away!

Salmon but then I'm not a big fish eater. I'll eat it but the only kind I like are Haddock (cause thats what they serve where I lived on friday night), trout and perch which are what my grandfather usually caught when he went fishing.

Fish is my favorite food.  I love everything that comes out of the water so I don't have a "least favorite fish"!  I enjoy them all.

A bluefish is fine if you catch it in October at "the Race" and get it in the pan within a couple of hours - it gets too strong too fast. I like salmon filets but don't like salmon steaks. I had a great piece of snook at Gadaletto's here in New Paltz last Thursday, they also introduced me to John dory and pike, both of which are delicious and which I have never seen on a menu any other place.

One of my favorites is opah, also known as moonfish.  Fantastic.  I agree bluefish must be eaten as soon as it is caught.  Fish rocks.

    Story time:
At one point, I decided to try to experiment with fish. There was a fish store a block from my house that attracted customers from all over Brooklyn, NY. So, I resolved that every week I would walk over there, see what was on special, and give it a try. Worked great for a few months. I found a few new fish and cooking techniques that I still use (for example, learning to take a lightly marinated fish filet and steam in a a bamboo steamer.). However, one week, it was mullet that was on sale. Went to Joy of Cooking, followed their directions, could not figure out how to get the meat off the damned thing, and it smelled up the house for days. That was the end of my experiments.

tilapia and pollock. when fresh they're ok, but once frozen and thawed they both taste bad and have a mushy texture...

pacific 'true' cod, salmon, sole and halibut are my favorites.

i had fresh catfish in the midwest once that was very good, out west there are no fresh catfish and the frozen stuff just isn't the same..

Yes I avoid tilapia like the plague and  anywhere that serves it makes me keep an eye open for what else is up there.

I also don't like the kind of trout that tastes like salmon.  Not sue what it is but got it several times so I stopped buying trout

Tilapia is horrible, and its had a re-birth. In the mid 90's, if any one remembers, it was around. I used to cook it for Bob once a week, and finally he said" Whats with this tippy tappy fish?" Its now our ongoing joke as our head chef who dictates our menu serves it at least 5 times per week. Yuck.

huh  ... totally lost me here.   ... mullet shouldn't smell strong even when cooking ... ???... there are different type of mullets; ... the mullet I'm familiar with is from the Florida coast and gulf of mexico and caught in the fall & winter.  ... I do like the fish to be skinned to prevent the fish oil from being trapped between the flesh and skin.  The oil tends to have a stronger taste.

Any fish that has a muskey, fishy, or muddy taste, I will loss my appetite and not eat.   ... The fish is not clean or is old!    ... All fish I catch, after scaling, I will wash with soap and rinse the clear water; not muddy taste.     ... I just find to many restaurants do not know how to handle or clean fresh fish.

I like my fish to taste like fish.  That's why I steer away from bland types such as flounder and tilapia, and lean toward full flavored fish such as bluefish and swordfish.  In the spring I love a nice piece of shad with the roe.
My favorite seafood would be clams, crabs and oysters.

I won't eat most seafood, just the occasional (meaning once every year or two) haddock or cod fish fry. The two worst I think I've ever tasted, to me anyway, were sea bass and salmon. Just can't do it.
