Least favourite...pretty much all of them. I'm not a fan. Most favourite, however...Woody Phillips Toolbox Christmas. Particularly this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkwsS6Ty4mc&feature=related I can't figure out how to make it link. Whatever.

Even though I haven't heard it in years and don't want to bother searching Youtube, Snoopy's Christmas by the the Royal Guardsman. Cheech and Chong did one back in the 70's that was an one-off and not on their albums about Santa in the projects that they must have gotten 15-20 years worth of airplay ad nauseum during the holidays. Glad they finally put that one to bed. It wasn't even music. Living in Miami, you know it's Christmas when you hear Jose Feliciano's "I want to wish you a Merry Christmas". Can't say I don't like it, it's part of the tapestry. Surprising this year, I haven't heard a single airplay of anything from the Trans Siberian Orchestra on local or XM. Maybe I'm just missing it.

I'm not a fan of Christmas tunes either (or Christmas in general), but I have a hard time not singing along with Jose Feliciano. I do like TSO also, but I think I liked them better when they were an 80's-90's metal band with a different name. Can't begrudge them their success though.

Least: All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth. Most: How about a redemption for "all I want for Christmas" in Mariah Carey's All I want for Christmas is you? That one might be the last Christmas new hit and it is 17 years old.

I am not on the road to having very much season spirit this year, yet when I had brunch on Sunday, the soundtrack was Vince Guaraldi ... to me it i a cornerstone of the season.

For the fans of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, attached is "Wizards of Winter". When my Miata was in the Christmas parade in Knoxville, it was cold and I had the top down blasting thousands of folks with this tune for about a hour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkAhmH40kiM Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I will settle for their CD but I understand their concerts double rock with a pyro show, lotsa lights and I understand, a huge orchestra?? Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN I can help you with this, as they were just here on Friday. Their live show is not to be missed...once. Every year it changes slightly, and to be perfectly honest this year was pretty lame compared to last year. They still have the pyro, they still have the light show, they still have the content for the 360 LED ribbon board...but it's not as good as last year. Still, if you get the chance to see them, you should. The orchestra is about eight people, with something like ten singers. The main band is two electric guitars, bass, two keyboards, one drummer, and one of the best violin players I've had the great good fortune to see. $108 for the cheap seats?!? Ours went for $27.50!!!! Floor seats were only $85.00. On the other hand, they make a point of donating a portion of each ticket sale to a local food bank. The two shows they did here on Friday donated over $17,000.00 to ours.

Glad they finally put that one to bed. It wasn't even music. I think you're referring to "Santa Claus and His Old Lady", which I have on one of my CDs somewhere. With no snow on the ground I haven't gotten much into the season this year, and as such haven't listened to much Christmas music. However, I changed the Muzak here at work to play nonstop holiday tunes all day... Most disliked song: "The Christmas Shoes" or whatever it's called. Frankly, I think it's a scam: the kid goes into a store, tells a sob story, gets some poor sucker to pony up for the shoes, and then he resells them later on Craigslist or eBay for 25% below retail but even then it's all profit. The lyrics conveniently leave that part out, though. Davydd Most: How about a redemption for "all I want for Christmas" in Mariah Carey's All I want for Christmas is you? That one might be the last Christmas new hit and it is 17 years old. One of my all-time favorite album covers, too...

Chriss and Jon were a class act together. The tradgedy with Chriss pushed Jon on and I don't think that TSO would have materialized, even happened as it did with both brothers in the picture. Sad what happened, eventually taking two lives. Dawn was with Chriss since jr. high. In the grand scheme of things they shared half their lives together. quote=CCJPO] SeamusD: I have to agree with you, Savatage is/was one of my favorite bands

Least: Little Drummer Boy the Chipmunks Please Come Home for Christmas(anyone's version, but especially Charles Brown's) - we had this discussion couple years ago and someone took offense at my disparaging Charles Brown's talent, etc, which is pure humbug! Just read the lyrics - it's a depressing song, no matter who sings it but he does a good job of conveying just the right amount of pathos. Favorite - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

I find that a number of "alternative" Christmas songs have wonderful melodies, like the Kinks' "Father Christmas", Jethro Tull's "A Christmas Song", and of course, the Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping". Bart

And then there are the songs where the "like" factor is based more on the artist than the song itself. For example, Eartha Kitt vs. Madonna when it comes to "Santa Baby"...one version is sultry and cool while the other makes me want to pierce my eardrums with rusty knitting needles. Brad

It is interesting. Not that many years ago, far more many of us would have named Christmas Carols. In this day and age pop-forty songs seem to top almost everyone's list. If I were to guess at a tally from above ... Carols: 6 Pop-Forty: Dozens Not that that is bad. Not that it is Good.

I try to find new songs for my Christmas library online, and this year discovered a bunch of standards recorded by the tribute band 'The Fab 4', all worked around Beatles songs. Very cleverly crafted, and when I had them on in the background, it took my guests a little time to register what was going on. The Chipmunks' "Christmas Don't Be Late" is hilarious slowed down where the trio's voices are normal speed and Dave sounds demonic (and I'm sure every kid back in the day found this out). Probably my favorite Christmas album is Leroy Anderson's - starting with 'Sleigh Ride' of course, followed by a full orchestral 'Christmas Festival', then three suites of carols - for brass choir, string orchestra, and woodwind ensemble. This one gets played through the Twelfth Day of Christmas.

Vince Macek The Chipmunks' "Christmas Don't Be Late" is hilarious slowed down where the trio's voices are normal speed and Dave sounds demonic (and I'm sure every kid back in the day found this out). Can that even be done these days with consumer-level stereo equipment? I suppose a variable-speed reel-to-reel tape machine could be used to create the effect. Brad
