Lemon Ice box Pie

I ate at a small diner in Mississippi called Magnolia. We ate the most delicious lemon ice box pie there and have been trying to find a recipe closest to the one there. Unfortunately every recipe I find either contains sweetened condensed milk (which lends a "cheesy" flavor to the pie) or is not too unlike a lemon meringue pie. Does anyone have a creamy lemon pie recipe that may fit the bill? Thanks![:D

I found this one on the net. Is it close to what you are looking for? LEMON ICEBOX PIE 1 1/2 cups sugar 1/3 cup flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 cups cold water 3 eggs, separated 2 tablespoons butter 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest Juice of 2 lemons One baked 9" pie shell ,cooled Whipped cream for garnish Makes 1 Pie Combine sugar, flour, and salt in a heavy saucepan and mix well. Beat egg yolks, and add yolks, water and butter to the mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick then remove from heat, about 15 minutes. When partially cool, stir in lemon juice and zest. Pour into baked pie shell. Chill completely. Serve garnished with whipped cream. A sprinkling of extra lemon zest on top also looks pretty.
