Li-Lac Chocolates (NYC) has moved Sun, 01/23/05 3:47 PM (permalink)
New Yorkers -- and some non-NYers -- will be familiar with Li-Lac Chocolates, a Greenwich Village purveyor of handmade chocolates for more than 80 years out of the same location. It's one of those rare places where you can still order a single piece of chocolate.

They've moved eight blocks (from Christopher Street to the corner of Eighth Avenue and Jane Street, still in the Village). Eight blocks is a little less than half a mile, but Manhattan is so neighborhood-centric that, as a NY State small business executive said in the paper today, "They might as well be in another country." They moved following a rent dispute.

I believe (hope!) this person is underestimating the popularity of Li-Lac. It simply isn't the kind of place that you find in every neighborhood.
