I'm sorry, but that just sounds......wierd. Why would you want to go to the bother of grinding up lobster meat and put it in casing when it's delicious just in chunks on a roll? I'm not doubting that it wasn't good but just seems strange to this former Bostonian.

I agree with Lisa. And just down the road in Old Saybrook you can get an excellent Connecticut lobster roll at Johnny Ad's.

I'd take a lobster roll any day. just a waste of good lobster in my opinion.

I agree with all of the above: I was so shocked I nearly choked on my Kobe Hamburger Helper.

Ground lobster just doesn't taste as good as big chunks. I've tried it, (ground lobster; not the hot dog) it's just not as good.

What kind of topping do they make to go with it? I can't imagine what would go on a lobster dog. Something with lemon, maybe?

Perhaps the OP will have the chance to do a side-by-side review. I've never had either one and they both sound interesting to me.

I've seen "seafood saugage" but doesn't have lobster in it, not knocking the lobster HD, well maybe I am, but I just can't see the reasoning behind it.

I'm sure they are made with the junk meat not wanted when lobster producers are picking lobsters for claws and tails. I'll check with a few of my purveyors ad see if I can't find a producer and pricing....

Sorry -- when I eat a lobster I pick every bit out of every crevice. However, I'm sure when a commercial producer is picking meat for sale, there is a point where the individual pieces are so small -- from the small legs of a one pounder, the tiny pieces from inside the body -- that they become economically unviable to retrieve. A lobster hot dog, just like with pork, makes it more viable.

I know Mr. Hoffman is prone to irony, but if you think about mechanically separated chicken meat, you can imagine what the "junk" lobster meat is...

I understand that way up in the hilly parts of Beverley, the natives have been know to eat foiegrasmush with ostrich eggs for breakfast!

Several of those lobster dogs sound real good to me! It's hard to pick what I would order first. I wonder if they have a sampler plate?
